Grout Cracking (Kitchen Counter + Backsplash area)

I remodeled the kitchen two years ago. Granite countertops were installed along with a subway tile backsplash. The backsplash has grout and the area where the countertop and backsplash meet was also grouted to fill the gap. The grout has noticeable cracks now and pieces of grout have also come out. Is grout appropriate there to use, or should caulking have been used instead? The install was done through Home Depot so I’m assuming they know what they’re doing.

Thank you!!
