join between ceramic backsplash and laminate counter top

Is it OK to just have a grout joint between the ceramic backsplash and the laminate countertop? We would then add a bead of caulk, probably silicon seal. It looks so nice, I'd hate to have to add any other type of trim, but my son want to use quarter round oak molding in the joint to match the cabinets. Hope someone has some ideas on this!

Thanks,
