When I took this photo, I did not see the eagle flying over the mountains, but the camera did:

My first 4 years of school were spent in a one-room school. I loved it! The teacher would sometimes call off afternoon classes so we could all be outside raking leaves, making snow forts, etc. The inked-out part is just the name of the town.

Last photo is the view of Catalina that the eagle had. I could not get very close to this eagle and did not have a very good zoom on my camera back then.

I should have gone! Senior group went to Colorado! Yesterday they were at the base of Pikes Peak. Think she called this the Garden of the Gods.

Thanks Dawn. I used a really BIG lens to get that shot. :0) I haven't had THAT lens out in over a year! It's huge & awkward to manage. (600mm with a 1.8 teleconverter)

Glenda...yes...Garden Of The Gods. The Long View. I used to live just up the street from there.

Looked over Dawn's mountains, couldn't see any dots, but did see the multi-coloured residues that result from swipes on screen, so did a few finger-flat-on-screen sweeps to reduce them.

Still no dot over the mountains.

Then saw a dot down near the gap between evergreen branches ...

... (that my disputational feeling today says) ...

... looks to me to be over the valley.

Glenda, that looks like garden of the Gods. You HAVE to go next time. AND do Pikes's Peak! We went to GOG in May when we were staying a half hour away for Granddaughter's HS graduation.

That's a big lens, nicole. The type that causes some serious camera shake unless one is using a tripod!

OJ, it's just the angle of the photo that is keeping you from seeing the mountain the eagle is flying over. Of course, the mtn furthest in the background was quite a bit taller than the ones in the foreground which probably makes it look like there is a valley as well. It could be said that there is a series of mtns that graduate in height the further one goes. Of course, the eagle doesn't care; he goes wherever he wants - hill and dale, valley or flatland, rivers and lakes. Wouldn't it be something to be free like an eagle?
