Help me pick a paint color for our bathroom!

The tile is all in for our bathroom and now we are stuck on what color to paint it! Here is a picture of what it looks like with the tile: it’s faux marble porcelain tile on the floor with subway tile on the wall. Our vanity is white and we are using all Delta champagne bronze fixtures with wood tones (such as the mirror and shelves) to warm it up. I’m worried that a white or gray paint will keep it too cool but that going another direction will contrast too much! Our bedroom will be SW alabaster.

Gray is neutral which means you can paint almost any color, so what is YOUR favorite color? Not what is the latest trend because every single person here will recommend the trendy colors, but what do YOU LIKE?

If you're not sure, look to your wardrobe or a favorite pot, rug, anything. Then report back and we can come up with some colors to try that will also work with your beautiful bathroom

Cpartist, very good point! Green and yellow are my favorite colors but I don’t think yellow would go very well with the tile or the fixtures. I have thought about a green color but there are so many options within that! Do I go with a lighter green-gray or a bolder darker green to contrast?

First of all, I would consider using bathroom paint for the mold problem. A few years ago, I made a huge mistake by allowing the paint guy to put anti-mold stuff in the paint I had chosen for my bathroom. Turns out it is for outdoor use only. It had a heinous smell, and I had to paint over it several times just to mask it. I think it was about 5 years before the smell died down. So, don't let anyone talk you into that. Use real kitchen and bath paint! Next, I don't see any reason to paint over the green tiles. I'm not a huge green fan, but if they are ceramic tiles in good shape, then painting over them may not be an improvement. It seems to me that a sandy color or medium ivory color paint on the walls may do well.

I agree with Sue - a dark milk chocolate to match the dark color in the tile. The vanity and shower curtain will show up nicely against that color. After painting, come back with another picture and get help with accent colors. Definitely get rid of the red. Hi. Of the two pics, which represents the tile colours more accurately? Where and how much wall space will be painted? Is their natural lighting? Could you share other pics of the bathroom, and other fixtures too? Note that paint swatches are, for one, somewhat inaccurate, and for another, a cause of confusion, with colours assessed in relation to each other, and the surrounding colours (eg tiles in your pic). Also, cameras and monitors aren't the most reliable, little that can be dont but take it into account. When you narrow down the options, it would help to get samples and actually paint a board to hold up in the space. Short answer, not taking that all into account: Of your options, one of the two circled below may work.

I just did see salt in my powder room and love it. No photo, as it's still in pieces. It's very spa loke.

SW Sea Salt is a very light soft green. SW Silverpoint is a very light gray with a green undertone. Looks like you have some natural light. Do you want a light color, or a bold, saturated color? My personal preference is always to go fairly light in the bathroom. But a lot of people like a darker, bolder color, and there are some very pretty pictures of that affect on HOUZZ.

Bold blue in powder room sounds terrific!

I can't find my SW fan deck, so frustrating! But here's what I did and it worked. I have an area rug in my bedroom that has lots of colors, but there's a particular muted green/blue color in it that I like. So I got my SW fan deck out and tried to find a close match. It ended up being SW Silverpointe. I looks like gray in the fan deck but it has a green undertone (if you look at the darker colors on the same card, you can see what the undertone is). There was one other color that was a candidate that had more of a blue undertone, but I chose the Silverpointe. You can only see the undertone if you paint a large area.

So for you, if you have a favorite color in a piece of art, pottery, clothing, etc, find a close match of that color in the fan deck, and then move up the card to the lighter colors. Using that method has helped me to choose light colors with the right undertones throughout my home. I used that same method in my great room. There is a horse painting in there that has a nice blue/gray tone on the horses neck, and I matched my wall color to that, just slightly lighter.

Love the tile! I would go with a blue, either lighter powdery blue or darker. We have marble tiles in our bath with a blue and (I think) it looks nice.
