It's my mistake because I knew that the pillows might be an issue because of the way you sit on the sofa). The connection between the chaise and the sofa do not connect properly so there's a gap. The good thing is that when the frame broke, they came and fixed it and they'll continue to do so for the entire ten years so that's good. I do have to say that I adore the leather. It's buttery and beautiful. My theory when it has come to getting furniture has always been to see how it wears in a showroom because that is usually an indication of what it will look like in the house. For my formal living room, I almost went with an Ektorp sofa from Ikea but then saw how lumpy and rumpled it looked at Ikea. It has great reviews online but I just couldn't get passed how it looked in the showroom. When I see how it looks online in people's homes, it only strengthen's my thoughts about how it can look. Some people like that crumpled look, I guess. I still think you should find a different style with a tighter back. I did like buying it at Macys and if the sofa doesn't have a good warranty, then you can buy the extended warranty.

Virgil - sectional corners are awesome! One of my former coworkers referred to them as the corner of power, over which she and her husband constantly argued (as did my brother and I growing up). That said, we switched from a sectional to separate sofas and chairs in our living room and haven't regretted it once (though the old sectional relocated to a new happy home in the den). As for the original questions, yes to a 42" door (I agree the bigger the better, especially for moving that sectional in :-) ). Personally, I strongly prefer furniture floated in the room v. up against a wall, particularly in an open floor plan. It just looks more thought out and finished to me. I'd agree with htwo that the major complication comes from small children - my five year old daughter loves to play mountain climber and scale the back of the couch - I've lost count of the number of times we've talked about why that's not the brilliant idea she thinks it is. And on kitchens, I think you need to think about how much you (or someone in your house cooks). Those who say they prioritize aesthetics over function probably aren't cooking multiple times every day. If you are, function starts to look a lot more important. Our kitchen is less-than-ideal functionally and it drives me nuts - one of the great things about building is going to be getting to design an kitchen that's fun to cook in.

yeah! you did not wait too long! you should not put your tv over you fp! that is very bad for back and neck and with such variation in size more than one will be affected. most do not recommend a sectional, especially with your ages i think it would be so. the sectional rarely seats as many as you believe it should. noone not even brothers and sisters want to snuggle up close all the time. I recommend a couch and appropriate sized chairs as needed. right now, things like large floor pillows and poufs would probably be best.

^This. How many people will be living in this apartment? Jan gave you the best option for seating. Stay far away from useless loveseats. I saw a coffee table offered by All Modern (https://www.allmodern.com/ )yesterday that converts to a pop up dining table in their section on 2 in 1 furniture. Check it out. But Jan is right, depending on the number of people in your apartment seating trumps an official dining table when working with small spaces.
