Bedroom Update/Opinion for drapes/headboard
Comments (11)Very nice room, you've got an elegant sophisticated look going on. As for the curtains, I actually like them both, but I think the blue silk have more of the beautful bedroomy feel to them than the brown do. And as to wall paneling- I do think it would add a busyness to the room, that would fight against the calm streamlined look you have now. Not that it would look bad, I just don't think it would really add a lot. If you picked the blue silk curtains, would you consider doing your headboard in a compatible soft blue color? I think it would look very lovely with your mirrored tables. And for the bedding- I like the bedding you have in the first picture. I don't think your room speaks for strong geometrical designs. And I think the different textural feel of the faux fur, and the soft stripes of the duvet look very nice....See MoreNeed advice with headboard selection-pix included
Comments (9)Pattycakes, I'm glad you don't think velvet is dated. It's either that or taffeta, LOL, I found a real steal on some lighter milk chocolate taffeta fabric today that's pretty hard to resist, price-wise, so I may use that instead. Pmartin, that cording is blue, brown and almond like the silk, and I'll use it on the outer seam of the duvet. Tomorrowisanotherday, you sure know your paint - you absolutely nailed it on the recommendation of SW Macadamia! I went by Sherwin Williams today and picked up some sample strips, and the Mac matches the silk perfectly.....it's such a pretty color! I think that would be ideal for the wall color. If DD wants to go with another color, Quietitude or Rainwashed both looked great with the toile Four Seasons. It's great to have choices...... Deeinohio - great idea about making the headboard a slipcover, I'm working on that idea. The only problem with that is that I wanted to tuft the headboard, or use nailheads, and I can't do that if it slips on and off. I'm still on the fence thinking that over. Kimiko232, I agree, a milk chocolate would be better than a deep, dark brown. I'm afraid if it's too dark that would be too strong against the lighter almond and robins egg. I'm hoping to get a soft, airy look for the room, so think I need to stay on the lighter end of the color spectrum. Thank you all for your comments and advice. I'm learning a lot as I go. I found a tone on tone silk stripe remnant today that matches the silk in the duvet that I decided to use for the chair, instead of a darker brown. I think that will look better, especially since the walnut stain on the chair is already so dark that a darker brown would just be too much of the same color. I'll make some decisions on the upholstered headboard within the next few days, now that I have some direction....See MoreBest headboards for reading in bed - OT
Comments (24)Interesting re-reading this thread! I still use a satin covered boomerang pillow. My new higher pillowtop mattress covers most of the headboard now though. This is a shame as it is made of Norwegian knotty pine wood which matches a vintage dressing table but the top is barely visible after the pillows are stacked against it. I would get it made taller by inserting some wood into the posts at the bottom but I continually need the bedframe. No more sleeping on the floor these days as I wouldn't be able to get up!...See Morei have a charcoal grey headboard
Comments (60)It is the EXACT same room. Just a tiny fraction of what was dealt with in an entire home re do and representative of the state of every space within it. It is an ONGOING battle. : )And I will let you guess who got serious. Yours truly, and you can bet there was some major league screaming and shouting along the way. It's a clients MONEY. I am not going to spend it, lie that anyone can take you where you want to go, if "those" shall be your habits. It's my habit to hound you until I leave it the way I would like to find it. You want to trash what we accomplished? Welllllllllllllllll that is up to you....See Moretfitz1006
