OK, So I Tried the Impossible

If you detest fast food burgers or fast food in general, then you don't even have to read any further than this. But if you aren't above the occasional quick drive-thru for a burger and know how they generally taste, the Impossible Whopper really isn't that bad. I usually don't go in for wanting to try the new stuff I see advertised but for some reason this one made me curious. So I swung by on my way back home today and honestly, in the world of pretty awful fast-food in general, this wasn't bad and if someone had handed me one and didn't say anything I wouldn't even notice that it wasn't beef. When I say it wasn't bad what I mean is in the fast-food world. No way does it stack up to the home-made burger or even the Five Guys, etc. I did read that nutrition-wise it has the same amount of protein of a regular whopper but more carbs and more salt, which isn't good since there's a lot of salt in the regular one, anyway. I probably don't eat fast food more than a dozen times a year so this isn't going to make me a regular customer but I have a feeling that the other places are going to have to come up with something similar if everyone else thinks the same as I do about how it tastes.

A trend has started....

I am for sure not above the occasional fast food meal,though I don't indulge often.

I am all for options for everyone, food wise. But I have heard that all this fake meat stuff in fast food is worse for you than real meat. I guess if people just go meatless for ethical reasons, these type of things would be great for them. I would try it out of curiosity if I was really REALLY hungry.

That's how I see it. It's not for someone who is very concerned about calories, salt, additives or gluten. It's not for vegans since they still use mayo on it and it's cooked along with meat burgers. But if someone has ethical reasons for not eating animals or they just want to cut meat for some reason, it works. I also agree that it's better to have more options. Especially in today's world where there are so many people who have all kinds of issues with food, both nutritional and ethical.

Beach-I'm not going to be the one to kick you...LOL I don't have a Singapore. Tried it a few years back and became discouraged with the constant problems with rust and spider mites. With all that being said, people here have gorgeous Singapore's that would make anyone envious. I think its a matter of taste, don't you? Now, I am trying a Hong Kong after being inspired by some pic's that Freak4Plumeria posted. The flower in my opinion is so much lovelier than a Singapore. Again it's all subjective. Only time will tell(meaning Beaumont winters) if it will be a success. Fingers crossed. Good luck with that Singapore!

Walkin, you will have to take that up with Gregori. His English is a little eccentric, but perhaps with the appropriate gestures...? As to the decorating, two options occur to me. One, we offer Michael S. Smith the chance to hide out with us until the B of A debacle blows over (not his responsibility, of course...he was only making his client happy), and so he can rest from the push of the White House job. We feed him, house him, and let him use the Bentley, and in return, he settles any squabbles we may have. Or, two, we turn ourselves into a reality show. "The Real Housegorgons of Belvedere." Lillie, don't give up... it may take a little while for some kitties to understand that wet food is yummy! You could try microwaving the food for a few seconds or so just to make the smell stronger but not heat the food, or try putting a favorite treat in the food. Some kitties are stubborn and they love that dry food, just be more stubborn! You don't have to feel guilty, just keep trying. Airforceguy (and all) if your dry-food-eating feline drinks a lot of water please be sure to have the vet check for feline diabetes. Since cats are obligate carivores (they do not have the enzyme humans, dogs and other animals have to break down carbohydrates) many vets are now giving more thought to the appropriate diet for felines - which is meat based. Many vets are also looking further into the cause and effect relationship between dry food diet and fd. My two boy-cats were kitty-crack addicts (dry food = kitty crack) and one (at 10 years old) is now diabetic - drinking larger amounts of water over a period of time was the only clue. Both boys are now eating wet food only and the weight loss is dramatic as is the reduction in water intake. Oh, someone commented that their breath doesn't smell as bad with wet food - add to that another plus... the litterbox doesn't smell as bad! As for fatty-liver definitely make sure your kitty is getting enough wet food when you transition. It may even be ok to let them eat until satisfied when you first start (I've found that once they get a taste for wet food they want a lot of it and then the appetite evens out) and then determine how much they should get daily based on their current/ideal weight. Talk to your vet about how much your cat should eat for optimum health. Peace

Eeew. You can have your thrills, but the disgusting truth is "IT'S PEOPLE!!!" Thanks for identifying the product. I know gamers who do the can't move eyes to eat zombie stare. They usually have some peripheral actual human beings who shove one handed food at them. Coders are more likely to get up to stretch, go to the bathroom and grab something to eat. They have chicklet mats that cover keyboards so you can still use them which help with the the Rule of NRITK (no ramen in the keyboard), sometimes spelled NRIK, pronounced "nerk" or by some purists "nert'k". A pasty sad lot, the bunch of them. I can imagine that they like to pretend their meal replacement goo really is people. :(

We've had an Amy's vegetarian drive through for a few years now and I hear they'll be expanding.

It's OK, especially the burritos, but nothing to write home about.

But as Rita said, the nutrition aspect isn't much better than getting a burger!

My opinion: The B vitamins would be better to get from actual food, but at least they include them as supplements. This is an issue with a lot of vegan food. I'd rather have a nice veg pattie made from food than all those factory made isolated food parts and some nutritional yeast, or something. They used to have something like that (not sure about the vitamins) at a local chain, but it went under a long time ago. It was good. :)

630 calories for the burger in its bun. Add the chips and you've ingested the majority of a woman's calory allowance. In France, Mcdo have had a veggie burger available for a couple of years but it's really calorific, 730 I think without chips. Now they have a vegan burger which looks repulsive...... I haven't tried any if them so can't give an opinion, but it all feels wrong! I'm just anti anything with so many ingredients.
