It,s so cold today.........
Comments (6)Hah! cAROL - I just came up the cellar stairs from lighting a fire in my woodstove! Altho' it's warmer today than it has been the past week and I hung sheets out on the clothesline, it's a far cry from the April weather we had last year. I brought in a wheelbarrow load of firewood and kindling that should last through tomorrow (fingers crossed). Also opened a couple dozen sprouted WS containers so the sprouts could get a little direct sun on them. Don't worry--I close them up again for the night around 6 p.m. Got my truck started this afternoon so I can start hauling mulch this weekend. Hang in there!! It'll get warm soon....See MoreIt’s Not What You Have; It’s Where You Place It
Comments (59)When I sold my apartment people assumed we had staged it, but we didn't really change a thing except we probably kept the desk and mail more neat. Ida, I think that people are really losing their sense of the mind's eye and their ability to visualize and imagine despite being otherwise intelligent. Most people don't need that skill anymore and as knowledge gets more specialized, this just get shoved to the back. We also don't need to be able to spell correctly, or write grammatically in many fields anymore. Obviously one sees a lot of misspellings and and poor grammar in these forums. Or at the very least poor proofing, which still sort of proves it's not important. How many times have you read posts by people who misspell, have poor grammar, and don't seem very culturally literate who are building a 6000 square foot house with all the bells and whistles and no mortgage. It seems to happen enough. Obviously they are good at something. But being "educated" or well rounded is of less and less importance....See MoreIt’s turning oh so VANILLA!
Comments (35)A warmer color fascia, black railings, and black lights will make a big difference, as will landscaping. Be sure your lights are large enough-you want something at least 15 or 16" long to have some presence and be in proportion to the size of the entrance. It's hard to get the big picture when you're looking at something half finished. Shutters aren't really appropriate with slider windows. A great color on the front door will help as well....See MoreHow do I scale my fireplace so it’s just right?
