art above the headboard

I currently have a bluish grey textured wallpaper behind my headboard with white with a hint of bluish grey walls. I can't decide which way to go above the headboard. I'm leaning towards the gold metal leaves as apprised to the two pics or should I put another textured wall paper up (but then what color.) or I'm also considering light teal painted walls. The curtains are white but can be changed. Help!

Sorry, I wouldn’t put anything up there. Your headboard is high and that makes the art too high imo. The pictures in frames look granny-ish. (I’m a granny so I can say that.) maybe you could stencil something very light on the wallpaper you have. They have all kinds of transfers and decal like things as well. I think I’d try something like that.

You can barely see my headboard in this photo, but this is what I have over my bed:This is a painting that my brother did, and it is 36"H x 44"W. I have two small African masks on either side of it. I've had the same bed frame since 1994 and have no reason to change it, especially since it barely shows. I am also concerned with earthquakes, but I have hung this with special earthquake hangers, but in the past, I have only hung tapestries above my bed. I did have some large paintings come down in the Northridge quake, but they were not on earthquake hangers. The main problem with these hangers is that it is difficult to get the wire on them, and even more difficult to get to take the paintings down. For a large painting, it takes two people. I personally would be concerned about overwhelming a small room - I think it adds drama to have something large. Also, you won't see it when you are in bed, unless you have a mirror opposite.

Lulu, I thought the same thing. My husband thought they should be the same height as the picture on the other wall, so we did that. Then I thought the height might be the problem. But now I’m thinking (with the help of the houzzers here) that it might be a problem of scale.

Could the dresser work on the other wall facing bed, so bed can be centred, as you mentioned you like symmetry. When art and side lamps are added it will feel even more unbalanced. In regards to art above headboard, below is a example of 3 prints to help with height and spacing. Another idea is to add prints above side tables. Roman blinds would look nice, per first picture

I wouldn't put anything up there either. To me, your headboard stands alone.

I agree it looks granny-ish, would also change out the bedding. Maybe some simple botanical prints if anything.

I agree on nothing on the wall above the bed. I also agree the bedding should go. I dont mind the white drapes, but, they either need to be replaced, or ironed or something. They are very wrinkled. Also, the first picture you posted, doesnt show the bluish color of your paint. In the second picture, it shows bluish on the one side, but, not on the side with your lamp on, so thinking maybe the very first thing to do is to change out your light bulbs, to much cooler bulbs (Daylight), so your colors actually show exactly what they really are. The bottom picture, shows the paint color better and I do like it. Cute dog. :-)
