Animal eating my plants
Comments (3)I had this same problem a few years back. My solution was to build a cage around the plants that were being attacked which was all of my Jade plants. It is a bit of a pain but I lost too many plants leaving them out in the open. Another option is if you have a deck or somewhere that is raised up and blocked off to where the animal can get too. I never did find out exactly what was eating my plants but I gave up trying to catch it and just built a cage to keep my plants safe. Comments (4)Thought I should follow up on this post... I had several plants delivered from HCG after using the search tool for my requirements (xeric, rabbit-proof), etc... these plants (seedlings) have done better than most other plants I have purchased (mostly from Lowes). I chose a convenient week for the deivery so when they showed up I just popped them in my raised bed right away. It has been almost two months now and they are doing great. Of course, it is raining quite a bit now! But they were doing really well for weeks before all that started. I am converted....See MoreCayenne pepper DOES NOT keep animals from eating your flowers
Comments (8)No luck with cayenne or scent sprays here either (I’m in Southern California too). We installed a barrier on our fence that does a good job keeping the rabbits at bay but nothing really works with the squirrels. Even plants in hanging baskets aren’t safe if they are close to a wall or any surface they can climb. But I hope this thread does not turn into a war of words. The original poster does have a point and, yes, it is also true that depending on the area/weather/etc. things may or may not work....See Moregardengal48 (PNW Z8/9)
