My Siemens/Bosch dishwasher won't heat properly
Comments (7)Alex, The pressure chamber has been the cause twice for a similar problem as described here: http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/appl/msg0413510827197.html Although the symptoms are much the same, there are differences not present this time: - the special sound stemming from the lack of water in the sump - the ability to help the dishwasher finishing the cycle by throwing 2-3 litres of water into it Also, it does actually finish the cycle after 7-8 hours. I am pretty sure the pressure chamber or heat exchanger isn't the cause this time. But I could check if you think it could be the cause even though the symptoms are different. But what about the power consumption of the heater. At 900 mA at 230 V it consumes only around 100W. Even if the pressure chamber or heat exchanger was clogged, it would consume the same power, wouldn't it? I guest there is only a on/off function of the heater. If not the heater itself, I am wondering if there could be a bad connection somewhere etc. By all means correct me if I am wrong in my assumptions about how it works!...See Moreanyone regret buying a counter-depth refrigerator?
Comments (22)I have had a fridge in my unheated garage for about 6 years. I really needed the extra fridge space like others have mentioned. I live in western Washington where it gets fairly cold in winter and fairly hot in summer, but neither for extremely long periods of time. Here's what happens with mine. The temperature sensor is in the fridge apparently. In the winter, the garage can get cold enough that the fridge part of the unit doesn't need to run to maintain the correct temp. Therefore, the unit doesn't turn on the cold air. The freezer, however, needs the cold air to keep completely frozen. Sometimes certain things in the freezer get a little thawed out and then refreeze. I get some freezer burn occassionally. But the fridge part of the unit is completely fine. I don't have any issues with it during the summer, but I'm sure that thing must run hard to keep everything cool. This is a small trade-off for me as I absolutely need the extra fridge space. Oh, and as to the counter-depth issue. Have you checked the actual cubic foot size difference in the fridge spaces? Some counter-depths have almost as much as some of the standard depths. Comments (49)but prof. nice guy didn't ask about staying or leaving... exactly. He said he wanted to meet a woman who was more fun *& that his therapist encouraged him to do so*. which sounds like a lie. In fact, his initial post reads a little like a singles ad ("my sisters-in-law describe me as 'funny & sweet'", "I want to meet a woman who likes to laugh", etc) His request for 'advice' reads a lot like he's fishing for permission/approval/blessing,("it would be nice to keep my marriage but be emtionally close to someone, too") Snort! & his statement that his wife is willing to have sex without emotional involvement but he wants the involvement sounds really really strange, since it's backwards to what usually happens (woman wants emotional closeness, man willing to have sex without it). like he made it up & he's seeing what response it'll get. One of the worst experiences of my life was many years ago, when I was young & inexperienced & a married man caused me a lot of aggravation, but, as a result, my "married man on the prowl" detector still works pretty well:. I had been dating this guy for several weeks when I learned that he was married. only, as he said, since it didn't have anything to do with what went on between us, he didn't think he needed to mention it. He saw nothing wrong with lying to me, lying to his wife, complicating my life, his wife's life, his children's lives, heck, he wasn't worried about complicating *anybody's* life, as long as he could have dinner/clean house/charming children...& dates. It was degrading to be manipulated & lied to like that, it was mortifying to discover that I was the "other woman", & it was humiliating to extricate myself from the situation & answer the questions my friends asked about the "new guy" I had been so happy about. but the guy sort-of mentally shrugged & decided that I was just as crazy/needy/irrational as his wife, *since I was having a good time*... until I found out about this little bit of (irrelevant & superfluous) information. This is a married man on the prowl, looking for approval/justification, & he posted this to see what kind of objections he'd get, so he can refine his approach to the next "woman who likes to laugh" that he runs into in the real world. betcha....See MoreRegret buying Kitchenaid double ovens...should I go with Bosch?
Comments (32)for reasons hvtech42 mentioned earlier...having trouble finding a lot of good information about the KA wall ovens I am looking at. Happy to have found this thread which - although over the course of 3 years - actually has some good comments in it! I was at Yale Appliance last weekend and the salesman was showing me a KA double wall oven. I liked the aesthetic and couldnt find any appreciable way in which it was worse (or better) than any of the alternatives. In continuing my research I started to explore ovens which offered a steam assist (which is supposed ot be great for baking breads...and other stuff). I was surprised when one salesman I spoke with tonight on the phone (at a different store) mentioned that KA was one of the few brands that offered steam assist. So I started to look into it, and first I found some reference to a steam "tray" or "rack" which appeared to be a little pan you could slide in right over the heat element and fill with water. Not sure thats much different thanputting a pan of water in any normal convection oven?? But then as I continued looking online, I found the KODE900HSS model.... This model has what is described as "Smart Oven+ Powered Attachments" which include a grill and a steam attachment. It sounds like these go in the oven and actually plug into the oven (inside) to get their power and are then controlled via the main control panel. Incredibly I cant find much information online about these attachments, the system, or anyone's experience with it (good or bad). I dont even see a whole lot of marketing online about it (would expect there to at least be some dog and pony show marketing video on youtube, or some appliance dealer demo video). Does anyone have any more information about this system or this oven? Is it something they tried and it failed and thats why there is no chatter? Or is it brand new? Incredibly the KA website doesnt even show the KODE900HSS or mention Smart Oven+ Powered Attachments!...See MoreDorys Prentice
