10 yrs and I still can’t get our living room right - HELP PLS
Comments (57832)Hi Seajay! I am glad to see you are making progress! It is very rainy here today on the Gulf coast! I have a contractor remodeling our master bath right now! The soak tub has been converted to a walk-in shower. And the old shower is being framed as a closet! They have been here since Tuesday, and they are almost done today! Yay! The painter we are hiring just called and wants to start next Tuesday! OMG, my head is spinning!😂🤣😂...See MoreNeed help for rectangular living room pls!
Comments (2)The sad reality is that NO sofa you purchase online is a decent or good sofa, and none of them will "last" nor will the cushioning. This is true of Pottery Barn , RH, West Elm, Article, Joybird and all. Even Lee Industries is not all that great, but it is better than those mentioned, You won't get a Lee for less than 3k to 4k. If you want to toss sofas every 18 to 24 months? That's what you will be doing. The price of a fairly DECENT chair is 1000 to 1500. ........ I would say live with the mis match UNTIL you save more money. Or make those contributions to a landfill : ) buying yet more destined to go there. If you must, Arhaus would be your better choice, and if it's your only space and you have kids......look at slip covered....See MoreNeed help with formal living room off of dining room
Comments (15)Candid! The first thing I saw in both rooms were the window treatments. The living room valances, although formal in design, are a dated look even for kitchens. The dining room drapes and swag should be framing the stage in a theater; they're just too heavy and dark. The red art in the dining room and the blue art in the living room are "off" elements in contrast to you furniture. The red ones might work in your kitchen, and the blue could theme another space. Dried floral arrangements and sticks as decor faded a long time ago. The living room rug should be as large as the one in the dining room. What to do... Here's a favorite house of mine and you have the furniture to pull off a similar look if you just simplify and get a larger rug and some side tables and a coffee table that are in scale with your other pieces. Click through the link with the photo to see other rooms in this lovely home. Brighten up your space by painting both rooms as below (believed to be Navajo White walls and White Dove Trim.) Consider wainscot for the dining room and a new chandelier. Updated window treatments that match in both rooms, larger rugs and less clutter would improve things. If you do paint, then removing all the tchotkes will happen anyway. Pack them up and only put them back judiciously....See MoreNeed help with living room/dining room paint and decor
Comments (29)Yes, arrangement looks much better!! If you are anxious to paint, you could roll out the Natural Wicker, as you are going to need a primer anyway over that deep paint. Won't hurt to use is as basically a primer. I can't really recommend a paint until you are finished with the room. Your next step will be chairs, lamps, end tables, lamps (I would get a nesting coffee table or oval), art and drapes (which are too short)....See MoreEllen Tracy
