dining room with metallic walls. matching cushions?

I have a window seat next to room and would like some color to put everything together. Chairs and window seat cushion are gray, and I ordered a black and silver chandelier. I am also not sure if I should change the paint color of the window seat area?it is gray to save on the metallic paint trying to get in all the colors. The paint by window sill is gray

You have no contrast going on between your wall color and your fabric. What color besides metallic are the walls exactly? They look brown in the photo. Is it possible for you to pull up the shades and take the pictures so some light is in the room so we can see what is going on? I do think the window seat walls should be the same as the rest of the room. Right now I think the bench seat cushion and chairs need different fabric. Everything is dark. But first we need better pictures that are lighter and paint colors as well as a photo of the entire space and furnishings. Can't make a call based in the pictures you've provided ;-)

I will post a better pic. The cushion is from before we painted and is not the best fit but it’s what I have now. Walls are silver.

You don't really need to match the lighting to the door hardware. I would coordinate the lighting between the two rooms but it doesn't necessarily need to "match" either, just be compatible.

I agree with Lucy. Previously, I had hardwood in my dining & foyer, vinyl in kitchen& bath, and carpet in family room and dinng room. It was crazy. My floor plan is somewhat open; standing in the kitchen you can see all the other areas. I changed out the hardwood with a darker & wider stock & put that in my K, FR, DR, and foyer. I tiled the bath in a color that blends with the hardwood. I left the carpet in the LR. All the connectly hardwood had such a husge impact on the look of my house. Much more spacious appearing.

Jan, You know, I actually thought about backless saddle stools; there's a store in my area that carries them in various heights, and not only are they reasonably priced, but they also have some that are black distressed (with red showing through) just like my Windsors. BUT, DH has asked for backs (for comfort)... and I would like to accommodate him, if possible!!! BUT, those are a possibility. And another "plus" is that the owner of the store is a friend of mine, so I could bring them home for an evening and try them w/o any committment, and that would be nice! Oakleyok, Thanks for your post, too! I was ALSO thinking about something like that -- something totally *quirky* and just plain *fun*, like a 50's type diner stool, or a real modern kind of stool... or maybe just something with a fun and whimsical (faux, of course!) animal print seat. As you all can tell by now, I have been giving this a whole lotta thought!!! ;o)

It sounds like you have oak parquet in the dining room and if it's vintage you're very lucky. (It's probably more than an inch wide.) You're right that it just doesn't 'go' with with wide plank original flooring in an adjoining room. Your best bet would be to put 2" (approx) strip oak in the kitchen over the wide plank and then finish it in place. You'll get the best results if you can refinish the adjoining room at the same time. If you have closets with enough parquet and money to burn you can have it salvaged from the closets and installed in the kitchen and then put strip oak in the closets. I have a little brownstone in Brooklyn where a couple of years ago I built a new addition and moved the kitchen into it. The rest of the house is wide plank. The new addition has 3.5" strip red oak laid perpendicular to the original 5" fir. It's not jarring and it's not trying to match. Yours will look even better.

Is this better? It’s a big pain to repaint the inside of window but if it looks off I can do it. Also cushion can be reupholstered or just tons of mini cushions I was thinking a bright cobalt

Excuse the mess! The chairs are new and not changing. Chandelier was ordered. Still a work in progress
