Roses Arrive Tomorrow - Rain For Days :(
Comments (13)Mori - potting them is possible, but means I'd have to go and purchase pots etc. I don't have anything readily available - I just started re-gardening in a new home after a long period of not gardening. I had to move to an apartment for several years and of course, had to get rid of all garden accessories (well actually my ex, got to keep all that stuff since I had nowhere to keep it all *makes sad face*). Krista - I'm leaning towards your idea of keeping them in the plastic they arrive in/box, etc. and putting them in my basement most likely, which will be the coolest place I think. It is supposed to warm up a bit next week with the rain, and I suspect my unheated basement might be a better area for them, than even my detached garage where it may get too warm....See MorePLEASE help - painter coming tomorrow!!!
Comments (20)Cancel the painter appointment. It's ridiculous to expect to be happy with a choice you rushed into when you've spent a fair amount of time struggling with it. Not to mention the expense of having someone else do it with a color you aren't sure about. Stop buying gallons of paint. Sherwin Williams has quart samples for $5 and there is a coupon for buy 1, get 1 free. I'm sure you can have samples made up at several paint stores, as well. Ok, I'm assuming you are staying with the imperial yellow? I like it, it's bold and I had that color in the living room of my last home. My dining room was paper-bag brown with a metallic gold ceiling I did in a kind of starburst. A little moody, but that's what I like for a dining area. I used red accents to spice it up. Our den was a brick red that leaned toward a deep coral and it flowed off the yellow very well. Like parma said, you want to have similar saturation of color in order for them to play well together. My cousin has an orange entry, purple front room, yellow living area and the back wall is a turquoise. It is fairly open concept and everything flows wonderfully because she used colors with similar intensity....See MorePlease help - painters coming tomorrow
Comments (16)Oh I see!... The colour works you have tested works well, I think. It is a little muted though. Go for it! I also think In place of the bar you currently have, you could eventually rip it out, find a great furniture piece that extends longer, credenza (the right size with drawers if you wish) and place open shelving above it. That way, it looks like it was intentionally place there and does not mimic the cabinetry in the kitchen and be shot out on it own. Then it would not matter so much if the colour was in keeping with the other cabinets. I also think that a creamier white, like that in the pillows of "visualizemaven" would do marvels to brighten up that area and transition into the living room. It would create contrast and depth and help your cabinets stand out a little more but still remain complementary....See MoreHelp me decide on kitchen cabinet colours by tomorrow!
Comments (15)I'm attaching pictures of the kitchen plan. I apologize for the quality. I cannot figure out how to convert this file so that can upload the pictures. I tried to enlarge them as the printout was so small and as a result the measurements are blurry. The north wall is 25'. The first 10' are the dining room and the last 15' the kitchen. I was planning on going with cabinetry all the way down the wall. As I mentioned above, when I had separated the dining cabinet from the kitchen, it just felt like a waste of space and made the spaces on either side of the cabinet look awkward. The first drawing, with the stove between two windows is what I was initially going with. After comments above, I'm rethinking this plan. I thought that I would not mind the lack of space between the sink and the stove, as I will have 3 other large areas of counter space (all over 4 ft), plus an island. I emailed the planner, and I asked her about placing the fridge where the dishwasher was, the dishwasher where the stove was and the stove where the fridge was. She felt that the fridge would look too bulky next to the dining room cabinets and supplied the other option of putting the stove next to the dining room cabinets. I'm not really fond of this idea, as there would still only be about 15 inches to the left of the stove. Actually I think this makes the counter space more broken up and choppy than my original plan. The other thing I don't like about this plan is that it has shortened my dining room cabinets by about 15 inches. I will have a 9ft island and the side of the island was to line up with start of the dining room in option 1. I would like to hear thoughts on placing the fridge closer to the dining room and the stove on the wall where the fridge is....See MoreDiana Bier Interiors, LLC
