LG Kitchen Appliances: Reviews?
Comments (19)I replaced ALL of my appliances with LG appliances. Stove and microwave. Refrigerator and dishwasher and a front loading washer and dryer. Wasn't long, dryer was first, all was professionally installed. Dryer leaked the blue dust you find in the lint catcher. Stuff was all over the house. The washer started to smell bad and grew mold even though they magnetically manged the door to so call "prevent" this. Both are white and still look brand new. Dishwasher was next, started shutting down before the load was done. Called about all 3, sent a repair man to fix the dishwasher. Nothing for the dryer.. Washer still doesn't work right. Refrigerator middle door grinds and leaves plastic powder everywhere. DON'T use the ice crusher! You will be digging ice out onto your floor for an hour! Recently the only thing I thought worked good was the microwave but the digital numbers started to flicker and now it sounds like a train breaking on the tracks! I've made up my mind to contact them an will insist on a full refund and they should remove this junk. All kitchen appliances are black stainless steel and also look brand new!...See MoreJenn Air Micro/Wall Oven combo reviews
Comments (8)We have the "V2" version combo wall-oven and microwave (JMW3430), installed a bit over a month ago. We really like it so far, although we haven't begun to use many of the features. The main oven has a dual-fan convection system, and the upper microwave can also be used as a convection oven, as it has a heating element besides the microwave. We thought about getting separate units, instead of a combo, but the slightly lesser total height of the combo unit allowed us to fit a warming drawer underneath. I'm not too worried about the "need to replace the whole thing" issue, as I'm usually more inclined to repair something instead of replace. It seems to me that the Whirlpool units have fewer features, but that the corresponding KitchenAid models are not that different. (Our prior unit was a Whirlpool combo oven/microwave, that lasted roughly 19 years, although it did need a controller board replacement at one point, maybe 7 or 8 years ago.) My other possible concern for the long term is whether the color LCD display and touch-screen will last. No reason to suspect trouble, though. The "culinary center" and sensor-based cooking capabilities of this unit are very cool, even if not really necessary. And this last is completely frivolous, but the ability to select from a bunch of different color scenes for the main display background is kind of cool.... We also got a free-standing french door (4-door type) Jenn-Air fridge, a "free" Jenn-Air dishwasher as part of the package, plus the above-mentioned warming drawer. The dishwasher is very quiet, although like all new water-saving dishwashers, it takes a long time to run through the complete cycle. My feeling on both the fridge and the dishwasher is that they are basically gussied-up Kitchenaid, and I've always felt that Kitchenaid was pretty good at both fridges and dishwashers. (As an aside, I am loving the extra door/drawer, which in this case is a refrigerator drawer above the main freezer.) We went with Dacor for our cooktop, just because we liked some of its features a bit more than the Jenn-Air cooktops we were looking at....See MorePurchased GE Cafe AND Jenn Air Pro-Style appliances!
Comments (3)I have the Jenn Air pro style range and like it very much. The control pad is a bit complicated but after a couple of weeks I have figured it out and it is easy now to use and remember. THe oven preheats very quickly and the burners are quite powerful...at least for me. If your knobs are rubbing it is simple to correct -- remove the knob , loosen the screw holding the ring around the knob, and shift the ring a little bit up, down or to the side. It may take a couple of tries to be sure the ring is in the right place....See MoreKitchen Aid or Jenn Air if you had to.
Comments (11)To elaborate on my post above, I have experience with the "new" JA at my vacation rental. It is the kind of place where something higher end would be expected - but I did not want to spend for the SUPER upscale stuff like Wolf, Thermador, SZ. JennAir seemed like a good compromise especially since I had good experiences with Whirlpool products in the past. In 2009 I put in a 3 piece package - all gas range, built-in bottom mount fridge, and dishwasher. No problems yet and the guests love them. The range is part of Whirlpool's big investment to "rejuvenate" the JennAir brand. The oven works very well and the touchscreen interface for it is responsive and easy to use. The sealed burners, while not as good as true open burners found on Bluestar, Capital, etc. are more powerful than your standard range and that increase in power is noticeable. The fridge is pretty much the same as before Whirlpool took over. That's fine because the JennAir built in refrigeration was always good, even in the Maytag days. Looks good, keeps on running with no issues, what more could I ask for. DW is a rebadged KA. It cleans well and is quiet. I bet the current ones are even quieter thanks to the elimination of the grinder blade. I don't feel it's as well built as the Miele I have in my own kitchen, BUT it also costs quite a bit less than Miele feature for feature so that's to be expected. Sorry I don't have more in depth feedback but as you can tell I have not spent all that much time using the appliances myself. All I know is when something breaks, or when someone complains, and luckily neither of those things has happened yet. Still, as impressed as I am with this package I would still mix and match appliances if possible. In the case of the rental, the package rebates and matching look were a lot more important to me than having the best performing appliance in every category. For my own kitchen... the priorities are a bit different. But I could think of far worse brands to be forced into buying than JennAir. There's NO WAY to get your builder to leave you an applianceless kitchen with the cutouts you specify? This post was edited by hvtech42 on Mon, Sep 8, 14 at 20:46...See Morechicagoans
