Looking for input on LG appliances
Comments (5)I had an LG which I thought was a Kenmore frid. and even though I really liked it, I finally got rid of it. The freezer would leak water during the defrost cycle and the hole where the drain is would get clogged and this caused the water to run down to the inside of the frig and it would freeze and eventually the water would run down to the bottom of the vegetable bins and freeze. At one point, I had a bowl in the inside of the frid catching the dripping water when I saw it. I would have the technician come out and they had to take the freezer out and unclog the drain hole. This fix would last for about a year and then it got to be it would last 6 mos. and then I finally set the heck with this after about 5 service calls, and bought a new Whirlpool, freezer on bottom. I love it!! However, I liked my old frid and it worked fine other than the water issue. I was told that LG is not a good product for refrigerators as they are not built as well as other makes. He also told me that his company no longer services them for that reason. Too many call backs on their service. Now, that's his opinion but I have heard that similar thing from other people too. The sad part is they look great! Reliability?? That's another thing. They say that whirlpool is the leading brand and most reliable so not sure how you feel about their products but I love my frid and I've had it about a year now and can't complain at all:) Good luck with your decision....See MoreKitchen Aid appliance review
Comments (4)I'm sure you can just google for general prices. I have the older model for your oven and see yours is $3.6K to 3.7. We also have the more rectangular grate model of cooktop. Our ovens work well. The main oven cleans very easily. It was made during the period when some models (probably not ours) had self-clean expensive fuse blow/total shutdown issues. I only used self-clean when it was under warranty without issues. Many people believe self-clean is unwise for any electronic controlled oven. I just noted that several reviewers of the new ovens didn't like the loud fan. I imagine the fan was increased to alleviate self-clean failures. I assume that you realize that the microwave/convection section opening is much smaller than the door. I really like the microwave section because it is small and heats quickly. However, because it does true oven duty, it is lined with stainless steel and it is hard to clean (and no self clean for it). If you have natural gas, I would expect the cooktop to be fine. If you use propane, I would suggest you look for an open burner style cooktop or a unit specifically built for propane....See Morereviews on LG and JennAir Kitchen Appliances! We need help!
Comments (7)There are 19 reviews of various Jenn-air appliances and 112 reviews of LG appliances on Consumer Reports (https://www.consumerreports.org/join -- $10/month digital). There are hundreds of consumer reviews of LG appliances on such sites as Home Depot, Best Buy, and Lowes. You might find a few consumer reviews of Jenn-Air appliances on appliancesconnection.com and ajmadison.com. It's better to buy each appliance individually as different manufacturers excel and producing different types of appliances. Even within a brand, there can be small difference in performance among products that differ wildly in price. However, LG appliances often do well in Consumer Reports ratings....See MoreLooking for Reviews on High-end Kitchen Appliances
Comments (12)Super, thank you. I spoke to a 35 year appliance salesman and he said Viking has "lost it's way" in terms of quality and customer service and I confirmed that is lots places. I had Monogram for 25 years, but the new Monogram is owned by Haier, a Chinese company. I'm not trusting it, too new to rate. Miele, Wolf and SubZero are backorderd for 9-12 months. I've looked into JennAir, impressive, and Thermadore, which has its pluses and a few minuses when it comes to service satisfaction. Supplies are still a problem in many places. Thanks for the tips!...See Morei_n_k
