I would have preferred to have the door stained to match trim, but, thats probabably not possible, since its white, so, so I would go with the revere pewter, in a nice semi gloss. Not darker, just match your walls. It will look different enough just using semi gloss.

Thanks cat_ky, I would have liked that to , but it was painted when we bought the house :) Do I do a semigloss for the exterior blue color as well?

Yes, white.

White is a "safe" color. If you want to do what everyone else does, paint it white. If you love color like I do be brave and find a beautiful color you love and paint it. It's only paint! You can change it if you dont like it.

I like NewEnglandgal's first three examples. From the OP's pix, the entry area doesn't look as open and has less light...? That was my thinking for sticking with white.

The current color is not really a white it is more if a cream.

chloe It looks like there may be lots of light coming from the windows in the front door. cerberusdog do what is comfortable. You could always go one shade darker than Revere Pewter too as you mentioned.

Yes, definitely some light from above. Though also really nice, cerberusdog's entry just looks like a very different set-up than your photos. I agree with doing what's comfortable. It's really the best option.

The good thing is you can buy a pint of whatever color you'd like to try and see what you think. It's only paint and it is such a small area (a door)! Looking forward to seeing what you end up with (even if it is white).

Unless you paint the trim white you will have a choppy look if you paint the door a color. Look at the posted pictures again, they are not like yours

jck910, I guess I do not see the difference between using white and another color....here is a picture of the door leading to the garage which is white and I think it sticks out just like a color would...the color on the front door seems more cream or off white

Go with the blue. The white is boring and the space looks bright enough. Be bold. I'll try to get a picture of mine tomorrow.

Do you have blue any place inside the entry or adjacent rooms? If so go Blue, and maybe change the rug to add some additional blue accents.

There are blue accents in the living room and could add some blue accents to the adjacent dining room. The rug is definitely getting replaced once we pick a color :)

I caved to the pressure of my husband and painted it Revere Pewter. It looks nice but oh so boring. When we paint the house next year I am going to paint it blue to match the exterior door color. Thanks everyone
