help to identify my plant

Dear plant lovers,

Please help me to identify my plant. It got problem and I need to first identify it then fix the problem.

It is not a spider plant. The babies grow from the root not from branches. It doesn't grow any branch but increases from the root. It becomes quite strong and not fragile as spider plants. The mature leaves have sharp serrated edges as you can see in one of the images. Its color is a combination of white and green.

I got it as a baby from my Mom's pot. I think the plant is quite robust and the way I watered it made the problem. During the last month, it was under-watered for the first two weeks (I was away for holidays) and then for the last two weeks I guess it was overwatered by my friend. As you can see some of the leaves got withered and discolored ... a bit brownish.

Any advice from you will be really appreciated!
