Fisher Paykel Cool Drawer or Other Freezer Drawer
Comments (8)10 Years later and this FP "Multi-Temp Chiller Drawer" is still around. I am strongly considering purchasing it for my specific needs. I have read nothing but nightmares about ice machines breaking down and the noise. Most of my friends that have ice machines do not like them as they have broken multiple times. I also don't care for the the noise factor. What attracts me to this is I can put it in a bar in a sunroom and one day fill it with ice from my other freezer, set mode to Freezer and my guest can get ice at the bar. Party is over and I need to store some refrigerated items, I can put it in fridge mode, or wine mode or quick chill mode for bottles. It sounds pretty awesome. Variable Temperature Zone lets you change between five different food modes – refrigerator, freezer, pantry, chill and wine. Can someone share anything negative or positive in 2021 about this drawer by Fisher Paykel. It is a bit pricy at $2,800 but I think it can service a lot of purposes. I purchased my FP appliance package today but holding off on this until I learn more or someone can recommend an alternative idea that is not an ice producing machine....See MoreFisher & Paykel fridge - any concerns?
Comments (13)I' all add to my earlier post. My prior refrigerator was a 20cft sxs. I think the F&P holds as much. I am a one household person. But I do cook alot and have a alot of refrigerator needs: the usual dairy, eggs, cold cuts and cheese as well as produce, yogurt, bread etc. The capacity for its stated size (17.6 cft) is large. The shelves are wide although shallow. A 12 pack of soda must be placed horizontally to fit; it will not fit in lengthwise. the F&P lacks some features we Americans deem necessary such as pullout shelsves. You wouldn't really need them due to the depth. There seems to sufficient storage on the door for ketchup, mustard, large bottles, pickles and the like. The door has an egg bin and two covered shelves. I use these for cheese, butter and deli stuff. The fridge does not have a separate deli drawer. It does have a fruit bin and a veggie bin which have sliders to adjust the moisture control. IMHO, the refrigerator portion holds more than it would appear to! THe freezer does not have a light. It is conveniently divided into 3 sections. So far this storage has been fine for me. WHether or not it would fit your family needs depends on how often you shop and what you have to refrigerate. I find it more than adequate. I love it's design and its counterdepth. I originally wanted a FD but don't have room for a counter depth FD. I am quite pleased with the F&P. I like the water dispenser. This control lets you select the amount of water and the temp of the fridge and the freezer. PJS...See MoreSub zero drawers vs fisher and paykel cool drawers ?
Comments (4)What do you plan to use it for? Freezer only or both? I just got the SZ freezer drawers and absolutely love them. I chose them so that I could get a narrower fridge (30" SZ column) and more countertop without giving up the capacity of our old 36" fridge (in fact I now have more capacity than I had before). I didn't compare too closely to the FP so can't comment on it. I can fit soooo much in the drawers, much more than I expected, I'm very impressed. And they are almost silent which is huge to me (the fridge is even better, completely silent). The under-counter freezer arrangement with a separate fridge has so many benefits that my in-laws copied my idea, though they chose a bar-fridge style freezer instead (either Perlick or Marvel, can't remember, panelled with beautiful SS basket drawers inside). Other than missing the ice maker that my SZ drawers have, it is a fantastic high quality option for a mere $5500 less (CAD). Happy as I am, this would have also worked for me and I'm kinda wishing I went that route....See MoreFisher Paykel Refrigerators? - New Quad door coming out
Comments (37)Stay away from the Fisher Paykel quad door fridge! If I don't keep all my food on the bottom shelf they go moldy (YES moldy) in very little time. Technician has been out and of course can't see what is wrong. What is wrong is that their Active Smart technology is pretty dumb indeed. I believe the cold air is not distributed properly due to poor design of cold air outlets. I keep highly perishable foods upstairs in a bar fridge! That's insane after what I paid for the FP. Stay away is my advice....See Morebubblyjock
