10 Years later and this FP "Multi-Temp Chiller Drawer" is still around. I am strongly considering purchasing it for my specific needs. I have read nothing but nightmares about ice machines breaking down and the noise. Most of my friends that have ice machines do not like them as they have broken multiple times. I also don't care for the the noise factor. What attracts me to this is I can put it in a bar in a sunroom and one day fill it with ice from my other freezer, set mode to Freezer and my guest can get ice at the bar. Party is over and I need to store some refrigerated items, I can put it in fridge mode, or wine mode or quick chill mode for bottles. It sounds pretty awesome. Variable Temperature Zone lets you change between five different food modes – refrigerator, freezer, pantry, chill and wine. Can someone share anything negative or positive in 2021 about this drawer by Fisher Paykel. It is a bit pricy at $2,800 but I think it can service a lot of purposes. I purchased my FP appliance package today but holding off on this until I learn more or someone can recommend an alternative idea that is not an ice producing machine.

Thanks for all the comments!! Re price, the models I'm looking at are comparable to SubZero and Gaggenau. Turns out there's a new Miele showroom, so I went there today, but they didn't have the 30" freezer. What I did learn (as those of you who have them know) is that the fridge door holders come out of their rims like the wire ones in the freezer do. Also, that the shelves (the rims) remove by sliding them to the top. This rail system is very secure, but that's why the pieces come out--so you can clean easily without removing all of them. The "floating" drawer seems to be in the 36" over under, where it's small and slides back and forth under a shelf. David, I don't know of my own experience, but all of the literature calls the lights halogens, and the guy at the showroom called them "appliance halogens". Maybe they really are LEDs, but that's not what they say. I also found out that the columns are identical in every size, just wider. Has anyone seen the 30" freezer? Does the icemaker extend all the way across? Or is there some kind of storage next to it? Canuck, I guess you might not have had your SZ for long enough to really know, but have you noticed the ethylene filter working? One more good I learned is that, according to the rep, the kit for installing the units next to each other is a heat shield, and works no matter which direction they open. (SZ have to open armoire style.) They also told me that having a Miele certified installer do the installation doubles the warranty. Re construction, the rep said that while the box, compressors, and other big parts are made in the Turkay plant, the electronics are made by Miele in Germany. He said that they spent 7 years developing the American style refrigerators. That sounds like so much marketing but is probably pretty true. I'm pretty convinced to go with the 30" and 30". I can stand dealing with the kind of issues Lucy is having, if necessary (I was in the showroom for the better part of an hour, and they had three fridges and two freezers running, and all were practically silent, so I'm hoping your tech can fix yours). And I like the sizes and fitments better than on any other units I've seen. More comments are surely welcome. :)

But I can tell you from my experience many people have problems with their units after they've run self-cleaning mode (and this is across the board for modern brands), likely due to all the new microchips and electronics we use in modern ovens these days." Whether it is electronics or the blue enamel, if it doesn't work, don't promote it as a benefit and take it off until you get something that does work. "Coincidentally enough, I've never had a customer that experienced this chipping issue on Wolf ovens and I do sell quite a few. So I've not seen how it might arise yet the the real world. Doesn't mean it hasn't happened to these customers." No one knows how many have this problem except Wolf. From this forum, we know it has been ongoing for 10 years and some posters have had as many as 3 go bad not to mention one of the lawsuits mentioned a multiplicity of failures for one family. They were also talked into spending more money with Wolf to upgrade with the idea it would not occur and it still chipped. That has happened on this forum too. I feel if Wolf was sincere and it was truly a rare occurrence, they would upgrade the appliance at no additional cost for the inconvenience it causes and in at least one case someone cut their hand on the shards. One Bosch dishwasher delayed, but the fisher & paykel arrived. One 48" Wolf dual fuel range MIA. It was "available" a month ago so the mystery continues as a regional distributor started emptying its warehouse. Both Subzero columns arrived along w Wolf micro, speed oven & hood. Recently retired our 14 year old Bosch DW and its a fav of most of our clients so may be worth the wait. People feel the same re Wolf.
