I have salt and pepper shakers and a dish made by a local potter that I keep filled with candy. The breakfast bar has just salt and pepper shakers; it's too narrow to hold anything else. I don't do anything holiday or seasonal.

I don’t like a cloth ”living” on a table unless the table is so ugly, it’s best covered. I had one like that for a few years.

I have have a china soup tureen and stand on my breakfast table. I don’t leave anything else on it. I put the rest out when setting the table. If I had a larger table and if it was in the kitchen, I’d use the antique lazy susan I inherited from MIL. I’d leave salt/pepper on it and my cloth nap in their silver napkin rings.

I have a basket-style lazy Susan with salt and pepper shakers and a small container of finishing salt. I sometimes put a small vase of zinnias or whatever from the garden in summer or I keep a small succulent in there.

On the kitchen table are four place mats with a complimentary one in the middle and todays newspaper.,

On the dining room table is my laptop, in front of which I am sitting, a monthly calendar, the formal landscape architecture plans for our backyard, a bonsai and my mom's financial files of which I am in charge.

Most of the time, there's nothing on the breakfast room table, but sometimes I'll use a pretty cloth just to add some color or for a holiday. The dining room table stays bare except during December when it sports some sort of holiday related decor.

Depends on the month, what's going on. Currently there is a fall-ish colored cloth with a ruffled rectangular "casserole" that holds napkin/salt/pepper/toothpicks. Until recently we were using placements. I am not purposefully pushing the seasons as much as just trying to not CLASH. My home lends itself to fall colored decor and I played B&B for DD#2 and three friends this weekend. Wanted to coordinate a bit better for "company".

On our kitchen table, there are 4 placemats (there are only 2 of us ). Also, some cork trivets from Ikea, a napkin stand and salt and pepper. Also the part I hate-----supermarket circulars and eyeglasses and pen. (DH is the culprit)

My grandma embroidered table cloth.. and I love putting one on my table... thus, that's whats on my dinning room table.

My dining room table usually has a lace runner on it and on top of it, either a bouquet of flowers or a bowl of fruit or my Spode Tureen and a pair of candleholders. Summer is always flowers because I can pick those from the garden (right now it's hydrangeas) but in winter it's either fruit or the tureen. When I entertain whether summer or winter, I always have a centerpiece of fresh flowers. Those I leave as the centerpiece until they wilt.

My breakfast room table always has flowers -- garden ones in summer, grocery store ones in winter.

No dining room here. Never wanted one. The house I grew up in had a dining room that was rarely used for dining. The table in it was just a handy place to clutter up with all sorts of stuff contributed by all family members. We kids did our homework there, Dad did his bookkeeping there, Mom folded laundry there. So it did have it's usefulness. The best use of the table was for playing cards and monopoly etc. Our house was the neighborhood kids/friends gathering place. Once all the clutter was removed, we could put 12 players around that table. Those were the good old days!

Today's kitchen table. The center piece is metal and holds napkins and salt and pepper shakers. Most usually there is a pair of binoculars on it for handy bird watching while eating. I change the place mats weekly for variety. It is in view of the front door and other than the color of cloth and mats, it doesn't change.

My dining room table has a table runner and a container with pretty off white tulips in it. Kitchen table has a round woven placement topped with a container filled with hydrangeas.

I LOVE tablecloths and runners, but they never seem to work out with the cats we have- you can use your imagination :^)

We have only a 4 seat octagonal table for the 3 of us (folding tables available for company!). The only thing on the table is a lazy susan at the 4th place which is near a wall. Napkin holder, salt and pepper shakers, and a stack of felt coasters are all that are on the susan. DH is a clutter bug and it's very hard to keep the table in usable table-order, so the fewer homed item on the table, the better.
