Festive floof! Anyone decorating yet?
Comments (35)Well, to be honest, my stuff never came down from last year. Except for most of the ornaments on the tree. I didn't finish taking them down. Tree still up, all my Christmas stuff still in the living room that my daughter put out all over my shrunk and her coffee table, which is now mine. It has been used as a storage space since after Christmas because my son's table is in there along with his suitcase that he had mailed to my house after he realized he wouldn't be able to take it through some major airports along with his other luggage when he flew to England last year. I need to clean that room out and put out the wreath on the front door, put the ornaments back on the tree.... Never had Thanksgiving because I got sick but now we are having Christmas dinner here the day after Christmas. I'm working Christmas day. I think I have one of those snowflake things somewhere that project on the front of the house. I just don't remember where it is. I don't know if I'll ever put out lights on the house again. Someday I would like to have some yard ornaments, like giant candy canes and those pretty white reindeer. I may decorate the trees outside with lights. See how I feel....See MoreFestive Floof! Comments (22)I want to continue One Simple Thing, to drink at least four cups of water a day. I keep a pitcher of tap water on the kitchen counter, taste improved with a dash of Crystal Lite Lemonade Mix. It's, "See water. Drink water." I've got DH doing it, too. Come dinner time, *success* in our empty pitchers. This little action has brought my kidney function test numbers back to normal -- measured monthly at the cancer center. And where did I learn this? HERE! From the KT. Thanks, friends. seagrass -- I envy you, having your DM for 60 years -- a little-considered, long term positive for early childbearing! My DM died 43 years ago when I was 37. I know there are several people on the KT who had their parents for even less time...and worse, parents whose children died too young. Seize the Day!...See MoreFestive Floof! Valentines plans.....
Comments (48)Well my dinner plans didn't pan out. SO requested that I make this mishmash dish with no name. It is essentially yellow rice, shredded cheese and "mexican" chicken with peppers and onions. So, since I couldn't really make that heart shaped, I improvised. Tiny heart shaped casserole to the rescue! This tiny little dish was big enough for his portion, and I was satisfied that it was heart shaped. Don't worry. I wasn't stingy with the cheese, there is more underneath the chicken....See MoreFestive Floof! Fathers Day
Comments (25)I'm on the verge of no father. He has a degenerative disease, that he wasn't supposed to live 6 months past, but he's been surviving well past. He started declining in December. He lost 20 lb in a month. His appetite is gone. The last two events I've attended with him, just walking from the car to the building he's as white as a ghost. There's absolutely no blood in his face. He's exhausted. His disorder is a breathing disorder, and he's able to carry his oxygen around, but not for much longer. He spent the last hour of today's interaction sitting on the couch sleeping while the rest of us were laughing and talking. He has a favorite book. He gave it to me, and I read it constantly. When he comes to visit me it's here on the shelf. He always picks it up and reads it when he's here. So I bought him a larger version with the actual illustrations that were in it first publication. I gave that to him yesterday. I'm going to miss him so much. I hope today brought him much joy, with all of his children, except one of the six, and many of the grandchildren, were there to see him. Doesn't happen often because there are so many of us and we are so far flung. He knows I love him. All I can hope for in his last days....See More
