Gadgets, I have a both a yahoo and gmail account that are easily 15 or more years old. I give those addresses to everyone except for family and those I pay a monthly bill to. My family and emails for bills go to an outlook account through Microsoft. Out of the three, I highly recommend the web based version of Outlook. It’s very easy to use and reliable. I don’t care for Gmail for a variety of reasons, but mainly it’s because to me, it’s more difficult to use.

My yahoo accounts date from the dawn of time. I find yahoo old, clunky and difficult compared to gmail. which is where my REAL email account is. I don't tolerate marketing info from anyone so in the instances when that happens - you make a hotel reservation, give them your email for the confirmation, and then in two weeks you start getting messages about their offers - I unsubscribe immediately. I delete anything unnecessary and everything else periodically. I try to keep my email accounts lean and clean. If yours has a build up, that can sometimes affect performance.

The gmail Android app is also nicer to use that the Yahoo one.

I have Yahoo and no problems at all.

koolbeans: I've using Microsoft Outlook for a long time. I have the paid version and have Office 365. I chose not to use it for Flylady as she sends a LOT of daily emails. I set up a Yahoo acct just for her, but have since used it for a few other places.

The Outlook that’s web based is different from the paid version for your computer. It used to be called Hotmail and MSN, and if preferred you can still use hotmail.com instead of outlook.com. That said, maybe it’s just a glitch or bug in your account. if you like Yahoo, and the way it was functioning for you, why not try opening a new account and just add and extra digit to the name you use. Update your flylady account to use the new address and see if it fixes the problem. A few years ago, my DH had an issue with his yahoo acct.. He’s wasn’t fond of gmail so he just added a 1 after his name, he never had the issue again and has kept using Yahoo.

I don't usually have problems with Yahoo. I do have a gmail account but don't use it, at least not yet.

Pardon my ignorance, but who the heck is Flylady?

We've had some problems with Yahoo not downloading emails in a timely manner onto our phones and ipads, but otherwise that's it. We're stuck with it as we have ATT internet service and that's what they use. However, on our Mac, we use Outlook, which imports from ATT.

I'm concerned about these numbers you're calling and think they must be junk--I don't think I've ever been able to actually call Yahoo for help. Please don't give any info to random people who want to take control of your computer! You could try the GW Computer forum, or hope Raven might check in--she's a smart cookie with the computer. And yes, it's ridiculous that it is very difficult if not impossible to get Yahoo help.

I hate, hate Gmail. I use it for a junk email address, and seldom check it.

Yahoo is my main email and I find it so easy to use. I particularly like the keyboard shortcuts.......the delete button deletes the email, I don't have to check it and then click the trash. shift+k marks them as read, up and down arrows to move to the next email, etc.

I had problems over a week ago when ATT re-did the email accounts. ATT uses Yahoo! and there had been a business change. My account was fouled. Once that was fixed (had to create a new password), I stopped getting mail in my inbox. Someone fiddled with my account for over an hour and could not fix it - they gave up and passed the problem into the hinterland of the corporation. Later, I discovered that my incoming mail was going to the archive bin. I moved that mail to the inbox and then began fishing around to find the setting for this. After finding the setting and changing the routing of incoming messages back to the inbox, the problem was cured.

I have/had a Yahoo email, Gmail and Outlook (Live) (free). I haven't logged into the Yahoo email in forever. The Gmail account is solely for social media. Outlook is for personal email. Out of the three, I'd probably lean toward Outlook but Gmail is good too.

Flylady gal helped me fix the problem of not getting her emails. At first, when they started coming again, they went to spam folder. I was able to take care of that myself. So far, my email is back to normal. I still intend to check into getting something else.

My son, the computer guru (seriously) hounded me until I cancelled my old original Yahoo account. According to him, Yahoo has had many ongoing problems, and his main concern was the many "hacks" that had happened. I now have a gmail account for my "junky" mail, and an iCloud account for family and "official" business. At least I don't have to listen to him nag me anymore!

I'm sure your son, the computer guru, also advised you to avoid Facebook....since there's a lot of problems there too.

I wouldn't worry about emails if you have your security plan in effect.

I have both yahoo & Gmail I like yahoo the best but it can give you trouble at times

I use Yahoo for most of my mail and do not know why or if it is just one of those things but mail is normally placed in my account as if it is from a batch. If I have any email it will appear between 5-10 minutes before the hour and seldom at any other time. I did noticed I now have to close the browser if I want to switch between email accounts. Before I could sign out of one then immediately sign into the other.
