Trim - Am I Being Too Picky
Comments (20)I don't think I've ever seen seamless mitered corners. What you have looks great to me. The limited Garden Web opinions fall to the side of too picky Limited? I didn't actually count, but I think upwards of 10 people said it looks good. Which means there are countless others that agreed and didn't bother to respond since it had already been said. Not one person agreed with you on here. How many people have you asked on-site? And remember that many friends and family may tend to agree with your opinion solely because they have no strong opinion and agreeing with you is the easier thing to do. Internet opinions can be tough to take because they are usually more blunt, but they are typically unbiased. Comments (41)Every kitchen project has snafus. I think once your cooktop is in you will probably not forget, but focus on other things that could have/should have been different. For instance, do the drawers to the left of the sink open without hitting the knobs on the drawers at a right angle to them? Or maybe that is a fancy inside corner drawer? One of my regrets is that my cabinets over/adjacent to my cooktop are not spaced wider than the cooktop. I also had a snafu with the countertop overhang. We got the island right but somehow miscommunicated on the perimeter overhang and is something I chose to live with. Doesn't bug me as much as I thought it would. I guess the point I'm trying to make is remods are a big project and even the best laid plans can go awry. Sometimes you have to choose to live with something and keep the project moving. Then again, now is the time to make that change if you think you cannot. In the end, most of us are happy with the overall finished product and often end up focusing on something all together different in the end....See Moream I being too picky?
Comments (11)I knew I could count on you guys to help me work thru this tough decision! :) blfenton & kitchen place, my sink is white, so no clashing w/ stainless! I agree, that would not be pretty! My sink is fireclay & I just found out that I have to get a deeper flange than what comes w/ the disposal. That freaked me out because I didn't think I'd have a choice now but to go with silver. But, who would have known there are so many different metals...& prices...with that extra couple of inches? So, brass flange it is! Great minds think alike, romy....I have my metal guy taking a chrome airswitch & plating it w/ brass!! I should have done a little research tho, because while searching for the brass flange, I'm running across quite a few brass/gold airswitches! Oh well, my metal guy's not charging me too much to do that little switch! When I finally get it all installed, I'll take pictures so you can see my matchy faucet, flange & airswitch! I have to say, this is one of the more fun things I've done since my kitchen was demo'd!! Thanks!...See MoreNeed help standing up for myself! Or am I being too picky? (Long)
Comments (25)The toekick issues is owned by the KD. It's an upgrade that has to be chosen in the software, and she didn't choose it. Thank you so much, Cooks Kitchen, for this info because you saved me from totally embarrassing myself!!! I swapped the two cabinets on that side at the last minute so the order was likely correct but there were "unintended consequences". I'm so glad I realized this before I contacted the builder and KD about it or I would have lost all credibility. So, for this item, the fix is on me. I'll probably install baseboard trim. A racked frameless oven cabinet is a big deal. Be sure that is actually the issue. Do a 3,4,5, measure on it. And measure the diagonals That's the plan, but I think it's just the face frame that isn't square. The frame is attached in the middle of the cabinet, above the bottom drawer and below the top doors. At the crown and the floor the cabinet appears level, however, we will be sure to confirm that. I sent the full punch list to the builder and he seems ok so far. We're meeting tomorrow to walk through together and he has already scheduled a meeting with the KD. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again!...See MoreJAN MOYER
