I ordered the PLFW 115.30 from them last week, shipped next day eventhough their website stated ships same day if ordered by 3pm ET. Prolinehoods were pretty responsive to a few emails I sent them. They also offer a 14 days money back satisfaction guarantee and they pay return shipping. Given this, 2 yrs warranty and its the cheapest hood I can find with 900 CFM/baffle filters, I took the chance. Worse case, I ship it back on their dime. I nearly bought a Kobe based on favorable feedback on this forum but it was $200 more for almost the same model with 760 CFM. I also find it extremely difficult to comprehend why a SS hood plus a motor blower can cost in the thousands for one of those better known brands. I know this is made by one of those China factories but what isn't these days? Even Iphones/Ipads etc are made in China. Hood will arrive Wed, so I will provide further feedback once its installed next weekend. Good luck with your search.

We are guessing the old hood vents through one of the uprights going into the ceiling. Maybe not at all - we did find bare twisted electric wire connections hanging behind drawers in the island! :-/ We can't move the range without replacing all the granite, and other extensive work. this is the shortest route to make a big difference in there. I've posted in the kitchen forum area but not about relocating anything or building anything different... There IS HOPE - dealing with these guys is a little mercurial, but indications are leaning towards availability of extensions on the low end hoods. I have been sending a lot of emails out to the sellers of inexpensive island hoods on Ebay and Amazon, about getting extensions. Many say none are available, but I've also had at least a couple say you can get them but have to call them and order it direct. Some said - it's in their "store" but no way to tell what is compatible with what. Our outdoor grill however, gets a heavy workout. As long as it looks good and sorta works in some fashion - we're happy.

I agree the Wolf hood is a good price at $2k but if you add on the $400 - $500 with no blower I would suggest the Modernaire would be the better buy overall, I think the $4300 you were quoted was either over priced or a mistake. Three problems I see with the Wolf from a function and design perspective in comparison to the Modenraire are. 1) It requires a transition from rectangle to round, this creates drag and extra noise. 2) The lip seems recessed which means the coverage is not 24" but closer to 23". 3) The light bar is not recessed up into the hood so the true capture are area may well be 20" or less, which is 5" less than the front burners on the AG Wolf which extend 25" from the back wall. Hopefully someone with a Wolf hood will comment to help you out with my concerns, which may well be groundless.

Boxerpups, I am thrilled to hear from you. I so appreciate your taking the time to research pics for me. It is MUCH more noticeable than the Broan pic you shared. I would be very happy if it were to look like any of the samples you posted. I'm also glad for the encouragement that it's possible to have the two pieces smooth and flat -- I swear talking to the contractor and carpenters made me feel like I was going crazy... as if my expectations were outrageously high. They insist that the pieces aren't manufactured properly, whereas the tech support team said they have received zero complaints of this type about this vent, with the caveat that the pieces are very easily bent. I don't know who/what to believe. Ahhh... this too shall pass. And, at some point it will all be done to my satisfaction.
