RH Pulls or Costco solid brass for kitchen update? X-post
Comments (12)Thanks, joaniepoanie. I'll check out the knobs and pulls website. I agree many buyers wouldn't know the difference and some would probably plan on remodeling the kitchen anyway. I would prefer to paint the cabinets the same antique white that we've used on all the trim and doors throughout the house. The reason I'm considering a different color is because of my granite counters. Another poster mentioned they appear to have a pinkish undertone and the yellowish antique white might make them appear more pink. I wouldn't want that! Edgecomb Gray looks like a warm neutral with a touch of red, and I thought this might tone down the counters. Here's an inspiration picture of a kitchen if I paint the cabinets a color other than antique white. It looks like a light gray with espresso glaze pinstriping. Comments (30)@Jessica Uhler, I love it. I also used it for all my kitchen hardware-- and all the other plumbing in the house. I don't do anything to maintain it. I don't wipe water spots or anything because I like the patina. There's a tiny bit of green in areas that get the most water, which isn't my favorite. I'm planning to give those areas a light once-over with steel wool when I finally get around to it. I did not use unlacquered brass for the kitchen sink drain. I thought drains would get too much patina or something. I bought a white powder coated drain to blend in with my sink. But actually the powder coating is coming off, and all the other unlaquered brass drains in my house (bathroom sinks, tub, shower) look great, so I'm going to swap the kitchen drain....See MoreKitchen hardware help - Polished brass or Satin nickel drawer pulls??
Comments (21)@Kristin S, not sure but I can certainly ask. I really need a middle ground between the Polished Brass and Satin Nickel. The Polished Brass seems too gold for me and the satinnickel slightly too muted. Hard to tell but is the Top Bronze kind of in between? Going to go online and see the difference. At the end of the day, the pulls are so subtle so maybe I should stop belabouring on this point and I guess I could always just change them out after the fact (although my husband would kill me!!) ... LOL. Thanks!!...See MoreIs this a good idea for a powder room with no natural light?
Comments (4)Hi Su! I really like the tone-on-tone idea you have going. If it were me, I'd let the subtle pattern of the floor and texture of the wood do the talking. I'd pull the darker shade from the floor tile and use that for the wall color. Hope that helps! Doug...See MoreEsther Lorenzo
