Unlacquered brass door knobs
Comments (20)athensmom - I agree that the Emtek sandcast bronze is too rustic for your house (or mine). Look at Emtek lost wax cast bronze. That is what we are going to use for the front door and, probably, the French doors. It has a much more refined look and the Medium Bronze doesn't have the purplish cast of the Burgundy. They have knobs as well as levers. I thought we were going to use the Emtek French Antique brass for our interior knobs until I actually got to see it. It looks very "artificial" and not at all what we want. I would love to have unlacquered brass and let it age naturally (or will a little chemical help) just like the pulls on my antique bedroom suite. Even though I swore no ORB, we will probably go with Emtek ORB for many knobs since they have the copper underlayment that does look nice IRL. Unfortunately, it looks like all of the Emtek brass knobs/levers are lacquered. So, to get antiqued brass we would have to remove the lacquer. Its sounds like it is hard to do, but, if I want to be so masochistic, how would I do it? Also, we want to have about 4 sets of glass knobs. Would the chemicals used to strip the lacquer from the brass mess up the backing on the glass knob? House of Antique Hardware has unlacquered brass, but the glass knobs are only 12% lead crystal rather than 24% for other brands. I'm just not sure those would look as good. Does anyone have another source for unlacquered glass knobs? Thanks - Jo Ann...See MoreHave you owned your pull down kitchen faucet a while?
Comments (27)My Mom has had her Delta Leland pull down faucet for 2 years and has never had any issues with it. She loves it. I have had my Delta Leland pull down faucet in since Thanksgiving of 2013, and so far I haven't had any problems with it either. I Love the simplicity of using it. I like the features it has and the love the style of it in my traditional/vintage kitchen. We both bought bought them from Home Depot. They are in Stainless Steel. We both decided not to use the included soap dispenser, we didn't want to make another hole in our quartz counters. We both like the magnetic docking system for the sprayer head. Never has any issues with it. So far we are very happy with our choice. Comments (13)Hey All, Rohl distributor here. That is definitely the Tuscan Brass finish that does live/change over time. You can speed up the process when you buy a new one by touching it alot or wiping it down with soap and water often to quicken the pace. Rohl was purchased by Fortune Brands, which has changed some of their distribution over the last couple years, but the items are still made in Italy. In our market, about half of the issues are installer related because they are not the Delta quick connect installations. To acheive this look would be hard in any mainstream brand. Waterstone is fantastic! I have been their facilty in CA. They also have a Tuscan finish that changes, but again, it would still be different. In my experience there are certainly issues with higher brands, but they always take care of you. It's just not at an Amazon pace. Unlacqered Brass is going to be bright and shiny, and will also turn, but I don't think they would ever look the same (TCB that had changed and ULB that had changed). I would stick to TCB finish and maybe even purchase "Brass Ager" on Amazon and test on the underside of a flange or something. Or buy a soap dispenser to test it out on that wouldn't be costly to replace. Enjoy!...See MorePull Down Kitchen Faucet
Comments (10)I've had cheap faucets and I've had expensive and have not observed a difference in difference in performance, quality, or longevity (with the possible exception of Chicago Faucets--those things are forever). They are also simple to replace yourself (if you don't change the hole pattern) so it's not a lifetime commitment. Use the one you wanted in the first place. I think the luck is random....See MoreRelated Professionals
