Quartz Countertop Chip

I noticed the other day a small chip/gouge in the middle of my quartz countertop. We've had the counters for almost a year now with no issues- not even a scratch (well used kitchen and 3 small kids). It's hard to see the chip, and I'm at a total loss of what could have caused this. Neither my husband or I have dropped anything on it, and my kids aren't even tall enough to reach that spot. A scratch would make sense (sand or rock on the bottom of something), but a gouge?? The place I bought it from said it looks like something dropped on it and they could repair it for $150. Has anyone had a similar experience? Did you fix yourself? Any ideas on what could have caused it??
