Caesarstone White Ash vs. Cambria New Quay Countertops?
Comments (14)Thank you all for the ideas. They are decidedly different choices, the White Ash being more modern for sure. I'm aiming to have the kitchen appeal to a broad audience in case we want to sell the house, but want it to be beautiful until such time! If the skeleton of the house didn't scream Traditional, we would be happy to go Mod. As for waiting, location may well be an important factor. Odd experience: last week I visited a granite/quartz yard nearby, where the main guy showed me 4 orders on paper for New Quay that he expected soon (after 2-month wait). So I visited again just a few days ago and all of the slabs were in.... I suggested via email to the salesman at the affiliated store that I purchase the remnants instead of buying new, as our layout lends itself to smaller pieces. Still no response, which I'm assuming means "not interested." If that's the case, I wonder why? I'd think he'd be happy to be paid twice for each slab. And it would be great for me since I know the material is in! So really it's simply frustration that is making me look again at the Caesarstone (plus, I'd like to be DONE already).... wish I could find more photos of others' kitchens with White Ash but it seems not to be too popular. Anyway, I enjoy reading about people's varied experiences and helpful thoughts on the topic of kitchen reno's. Much appreciated!...See MoreCountertop Choice. Cambria New Quay
Comments (2)I've seen it on dark and on white cabinets, so I think it will go fine in a kitchen that has both. Remember, you need to go see the actual slab that will be put in your home before purchasing because there can be color variations between slabs. Bring along your cabinet doors with you to make sure you like how they look together. The flooring you have has some pattern in it, so with that stone too make sure you select a very simple backsplash. Otherwise you'll have a busy design. It looks good though! Good luck....See MoreNew Cambria countertop defect?
Comments (40)sfp: Cambria has very specific written criteria as to what is and isn't acceptable contamination, however, they bend their own rules in their customer's favor more often than not. They'll probably send a technician to fix this for free, but I would advise you to live with it for a bit please. I had a potential replacement sink customer tell me "Absolutely not!" when I offered to drill and fill her bright red spot out of her white estone: You may learn to like it. I could have made the above disappear, however, you're always going to be able to find your repair if you look for it. Your guests and the home inspector for the buyer of your house someday won't though....See MoreBrand new Cambria quartz top came with chip
Comments (10)Curious - did your wrap/water make any changes to the slab? I just got soapstone installed in my kitchen redo and it had a chip. They came right out and took care of it with the crazy glue fix. They started with, "soapstone's going to chip", and I said that it was mine to chip, not theirs to chip, and they came right over and worked their magic. Yes, they need to fix! If Cambria doesn't give you any satisfaction, turn to their pages on Facebook and Twitter, and go after them. Believe me, it helps. They do not want bad publicity on those platforms. Good luck!...See MoreMarty Day
