DH Chipped Quartz Counter - Can It Be Fixed?
Comments (6)I had Silestone in my previous home. The surface chipped/pitted like crazy. It might have been a defective piece. Anyway, I finally had the original installer come out and repair it. They filled in all the chips. It was not invisible on my piece. Maybe it was a bad repair job? We moved soon after that, so I don't know how they held up. Ok, reading back over that, I see I was not very helpful, was I? I'm guessing it can be filled, but it may be noticible. Tell DH he owes you a ________ (fill in the blank with something you've wanted for a long time). Francy...See MoreQuartz countertops chipped....should they be sealed?
Comments (11)Thanks everyone. Joe - when you say put scotch tape under the chips I'm not quite sure what you mean. Could you explain that part a bit? So the idea here is that you fill it with super glue and then scrape it flush right? The chips themselves are gone - so I don't have the bits to stick back on. I can post a picture in a bit to clarify how big and where they are. Starcraft - I understood that the countertops don't need sealing -but where the chips have come off it seems rough and potentially porous - that was my concern....See MoreQuartz Countertops Already Chipped and Kitchen Not Even Finished!
Comments (15)Well, I decided to just suck it up and live with what I have and try to be as careful as possible. My entire project dragged on for soooo long and I had multiple issues with my GC so I just wanted the entire thing to be over and done with! Fortunately, I have not had any additional chipping, but I'm sure at some point I will. My biggest complaint other than chipping is that I've discovered that my light colored quartz is easily scuffed/scratched if I rub against the face of the countertops with a belt buckle or zipper. The scratches are easily removed, but it is annoying. I don't think I would do quartz if I had to do over again. I am so sorry for your experience. Your situation sounds awful! Good luck!...See MoreDiscovered chip in quartz counters from installation - say something?
Comments (4)Everyone, and I mean everyone, is putting waterfall counters in their kitchens, which means that mediocre counter installers, who, sure, could do a plain counter, but are now installing waterfalls whether they know what they are doing or not. Can't wait for that waterfall fad to go. We see too many bad waterfalls on this forum....See MoreJoseph Corlett, LLC
