rain shower head for under $400- recs?
Comments (9)Shower components, like rain heads, are often grossly overpriced. There is nothing very sophisticated about the design of rain head shower heads that would cause them to command a big premium, but I have seen some for sale for over a thousand dollars that did not look any better, were not built any better, and did not perform any better than ones for $100. There are many styles of rain heads and I don't know your design tastes, so I am not going to recommend a specific one. I suggest you go to Amazon.com and build.com and put "rain head shower head" into the search box. You may be surprised at what you can get for your money from well-known manufacturers. The reviews can also be very helpful. When I was looking for a replacement shower head last year, I was prepared to spend quite a bit. However, after several hours of research online, I settled on a $42 Delta-brand solid brass shower head that turned out to be absolutely perfect for my needs. You, too, can find a deal for a rain head and arm for a lot less than $500....See MoreAre rain shower heads and body sprays worth putting in?
Comments (17)Delta Shower Systems are really great. We deal with them every day and they are really an industry leader. All Delta products have a lifetime warranty on both operation and finish so you really can't go wrong. They have a great parts replacement department to help if anything goes wrong. It's a little tricky to put together a shower system with everything needed for installation. Here's a guide we wrote we can help: https://faucetlist.com/blogs/buying-guides/shower-systems With regards to body sprays, Delta has a new style called HydraChoice Body Spray Jets. HydraChoice body sprays automatically pop-out of the wall when you turn on the water.. It is also possible to angle them as you choose once they are pop-out. Read more about these body sprays and watch a video of them in action...they are really cool! https://faucetlist.com/blogs/buying-guides/delta-shower-system-hydrachoice-body-sprays-with-video In regards to whether they are worth it, there are a few things to consider. If you are often cold when you take a shower or have a drafty bathroom then body sprays can help make sure you stay warm. They are designed to surround you with water which is very pleasant. I suppose worth it could also mean do they add value to your home. Well a shower system in the master bath have been shown to increase home value. So why not enjoy your shower while you live there and sell the house for more if you ever move! These images show a shower system with HydraChoice Body sprays, a handheld shower, and a showerhead...See MoreHow high can/should I hang my ceiling mounted rain shower head?
Comments (12)Dragonflygirl girl, in my experience, water pressure in the water coming out of the pipe no longer has much influence on how ”hard” the water falls in a rainhead. My thinking is that the water ”uses up” some of the kinetic energy it gained from being under pressure in the pipe in the effort to spread out in the 12” diameter rain head. I don’t think having the water in the pipe until it is closer to your head matters much for pressure. In cold weather, though, I think that it does have a noticeable influence on the temperature of the water that hits your body. I might seriously consider a longer down pipe....See MoreLarge rain shower head
Comments (14)tden- My shower is about the same area as yours (5' X 7'), and I would not feel a need for such a massive shower head. I understand you think a more regular size would look puny, but I think that large a one might look overwhelming and institutional. But that's just my taste. It would be good if you could find a local showroom that had a couple of installed rainheads on display so you could observe the flow pattern. You might find smaller than 18" is better. Some other cautions: 1. If you go with a larger head, check that the flow rate spec doesn't exceed your local code limits. 2. Make sure you have a big enough water heater so you don't run out of hot water sooner than you expect. 3. Consider having another style shower head plumbed in so you can switch between the two: not everyone likes to be under a rainhead for the whole shower. 4. If you go with only a rainhead, make sure it provides enough water pressure to easily rinse out your hair, as many rainheads don't have as much pressure as regular shower heads, especially as they get bigger and there are more and more nozzles for a fixed amount of water to flow out of....See MoreN Love Home
