Electrolux, what were they thinking with those doors?!
Comments (26)My washing machine came last Wednesday and I've had the chance to use it for 6 or 7 loads. I don't think the door is going to be an issue for me. I like several things about it: I can open it with an armful of clothing by pressing with my knee. if the door is open 90 I can just walk by and push it out of the way with my leg while walking (no effort, just walk into it basically) and then when I am past it, it opens up itself so if my hands are full I don't have to fiddle with the door. The detergent dispenser will take some getting used to. It pops open nicely with the button, but closing takes a brisk push rather than a soft, gentle push which I am used to from regular detergent doors. The wash times are shockingly short. A default normal load on high spin, medium soil with no extra options lists 30 minutes! In my previous front loader this was approx. a 1 hour cycle. I did a colours cycle with pre-wash, stain pre-treat and extra rinse options and it was 44 mins. This would have been close to an hour and a half on my old machine. And my "old" machine was only 4.5 years old. This freaks me out a little as I'm wondering how it can get clothing clean in such a short time! That being said, both my white and taupe hand towels have had dirty marks on them where the hands use the towel the most. I figured they were just stained since they are 7 years old. My previous machine had them always coming out smelling fresh so no reason to believe they weren't clean. Well, ONE of these 30 minute normal washes and the marks are gone from 2 of the hand towels! (I had only 2 in the load) Same detergent (Country Save). And my teenager got sprayed with mustard and stuck her shirt in the bathroom sink for a day (had no washing machine yet) and I threw it in the above mentioned colours load and the mustard came completely out. Mustard removal has always taken much more effort than that for me and this was a LOT of mustard, it covered the entire left side of her shirt which was light grey in colour. Here's to hoping its cleaning power continues to be great!...See MoreAnybody else enjoy the 'doing nothing' aspect of retirement?
Comments (7)I'm 56 and retired on a small pension. I packed up my house and travelled for months. I then returned home and moved to another city - one i like much better. I love being free from my uncontrollable need to make other people happy, to look after them and make them feel loved. I spent many years trying to make my violent unhappy husband happy but to no avail. I then gave myself, my time and energy to work, work friends and my children. Now to be able to live in silence and listen to the birds, to be able to sleep all day, watch tv all day, knit all day, go to town all day, read, surf the net, walk the parks and beach close to my place, visit interesting places is heavenly. I'm never bored or lonely. But most of all getting to know myself and i'm learning to be kind and loving to me. PS my biggest challenge is feeling the need to explain this to my friends and family who are bemused and worried about me, but i decided not to try and explain it, I decided to just be me....See MoreQuotes Dec. 29, 2018
Comments (2)Good Morning Anneliese! Recovery from the Holiday overload is a good thing. I had the same opinion as you,. about Ted Danson, surprised there is a serious individual behind the "airhead". I can't disagree with anything he is saying, unfortunately the political world appears to be not interested in working together to address the issues....See MoreAT&T Disabling my 4G Capable Phone, Why?
Comments (40)"The new cell phone which we received" If you're saying this is a free replacement for a 3G phone, I'm going to guess what you may have received was a phone of very limited capability that's very inexpensive. Put another way, a cheap phone for free. Can you afford to buy something that's more capable? The phone companies give you something like 14 days after buying a new phone to return it so that if you find a different model doesn't connect as you'd like it to, you could return it. Or, spend $30 for a Bluetooth earpiece. Bluetooth is only a connection method, like a wire. If it isn't working, Bluetooth isn't the reason, it could be a limitation of the phone (as you suggest) or an incompatibility between it and the car's infotainment system. Speaking of wires, will it work as you if you connect the phone to the car using a USB cord? 3 1/2 years ago, I bought a cheap (like $50) Samsung smartphone from Tracfone for a particular need I didn't want to use my regular smartphone for. The Samsung is not an impressive phone - it's a low end model - but it's adequate for what I use it for. The Tracfone plan I use is cheapest they offer at $120 per year, which includes more minutes than I'd ever use plus 1.5 GB of data. Extra data is $10 per GB, I've never used more than 4 GB in a year. Great service, the one I have connects to Verizon's network and others use ATT. I think Consumer Cellular is a bit more, though still modestly priced. Check out both, what would be best for you would depend on the nature and amount of use....See More- 7 years ago
