Paint Design Dilemma Exterior

Help! I am looking to update the exterior.

Paint brick? Stain Brick? Keep brick as is? Help! My home is brick on the front and brick and siding on the two sides and back. I have been debating this for a while and a tree fell on our home and now is the time to do something because the whole back of my home has to be painted. Any great ideas?

on the front: remove the shutters and invest in landscaping. If you really want to spend, remove that semi-circle window. It’s an affectation from the 90s McMansion era and takes a regal stately home into shopping mall design.

From on the back: paint The siding so it blends in. Build decks that bring you down to earth in stages. And again, lots if landscaping to tie the house into the landscape.

From a practical point of view..your house looks great...any change to the brick will increase the probability of future upkeep or maintenance..and your brick looks pristine as is...that being said your house looks like it has a split personality...the back has no resemblance of the front...since you are working on the back.. why not consider that option?

In your first picture the walls are light and in the second they are red and green. I think painting the ceiling white and the walls (upper and lower) a light color would help. I would take out the "fussy" things...scounces, and ceiling medallion, A larger rug would update your room. Love the glass table and would like to see a centerpiece or runner on it. Nice room.

The house has lovely bones. Definitely no shutters. I would suggest replacing the light fixtures. The security light over the garage is not adding any curb appeal and the light by the front door is blending in too much. You might consider a new front door if it's not adding much charm. I can't really see it from your picture so it's difficult to tell.

Quite honestly, it looks very nice the way it is. I would definitely look at it, if I were buying in your area. I wouldnt do a thing to it. Save your money for your new house.

These people used Romabio in Riposo Beige. Reminded of your house … I know nothing about using limewash, though … hopefully someone who has actually used it will see this.

The more you show the better it gets...take pics in good light...from further back ...I think just a darker color paint will tie it all together better...maybe even paint the railings to tie in the deck to the lower area better

My first thought was landscaping like others...but it appears you live on the top of a sloping hill...any move toward noticeable landscaping...requiring some serious excavating..may lead to stability problems?..even if they say not..I think the lawn is appropriate for the style of the home you have...

Painting the brick makes it high maintenance. I agree with the others about spending money elsewhere on the half round window, landscaping, getting rid of the shutters and beefing up the striping around the windows.
