Ring Doorbell Question

I posted this on The Kitchen Table and tried to post on Computer Help at the same time. However, Computer Help is not listed in the forums. So here goes: I am seriously considering purchasing the Ring Doorbell. The one that would be hardwired into my existing doorbell. One thing that has me pondering about this though is the location of my doorbell. It is not on the doorframe facing forward; it is on the sidewall. Do any of you know if the Ring could video people enough to recognize/identify them from the sidewall location?

Amazon has wedge kits that might help.

I don't have one so can't say how effective it is. Or even if it's only for the battery models rather than the models that use existing wiring. Might give you a starting point though.

I think that one works with existing wiring?

I have a ring on a side wall. The camera has a wide range so you can see anyone coming around the wall toward your door. I cannot see my driveway which is on the other side of the wall.

I love this ring doorbell and bought it a few years ago before Amazon bought it. My SIL has it and also their spotlights with cameras. He put the spotlights on each corner of his house. I would love those but I don't have wiring on those corners and would have to hire a electrician to run new lines. Too expensive.

I think you will be happy with the doorbell even with the wall. It really has a wide range and is very clear. I can see the street infront of the house and all of my property on the left. I always check the notifications when I get the alerts on my phone. I know when packages have been dropped off and many times run home to put them in the house.

twg7590 Im so sorry to get back with you so late, I dont usally have time during the weekends to post. Its so funny that you love my porch and I love your kitchen...if only I had your kitchen I would have my dream home complete!! We are very happy with the timberteck flooring. We chose not to put in the tonge and groove flooring because if we had to replace a board you would have to remove most of the flooring to get to it. I dont remember the color it was what our local building supply had in stock. I have seen pictures of the spotting that some of the people in the deck forum are having problems with. But keep in mind that their decks are explosed to the elements without any protection. We have not seen any spots, but because it is covered by a roof and the sceen does a great job of keeping out the rain it does not get wet. I love it and if I want to kick off my shoes and walk across it, it is so smooth and the dark color just makes the room feel so warm. We did have it screened underneith because I did not want anything coming up from below the floor. LOL!! I have an area rug out there now and it look so nice and warm. I will have to post some close up pictures for you, email me at kellyleeann72@aol.com and I will send you pictures. I dont remember the stain of the ceiling but when I get home I can look at the bucket and let you know. The fireplace is a veener stone done by Centuron Stone, they are a big company out here and they have a website if you would like to check it out. The part of the wall is a little recessed and since the Ring has a fisheye camera of 180 degrees, the fact that it is recessed means i will be looking at the wall on both sides and straight out the front lawn.

We recently got the Ring Pro and had to change the doorbell transformer to get the power required for the video. Now we need a new chime box but we can't seem to find one that is small or at least either less noticeable or not an eye sore! Any suggestions?

I just used the ring chime and have been happy with it. No external chimes. Requires the ring doorbell of course.

I have a Ring doorbell next to the front door, but the sidewalk to that door is at 90 degrees to the door (parallel to the house). I have it mounted on the wedge shaped mounting plate that is included in the kit. The camera is very wide angle and, with the tilt, it has no problem picking up people when they are 30' from the door.
