Lady in Red got pinned! Anyone else have pictures of her as a climber?

We put Lady in Red in earlier this year. We put her 30 inches from the support per advice on the web. But I think that was too far. We moved the trellis up and started pinning her up today. She looks gorgeous!

A close up. This is our first time training a climber so not really sure what were doing but a number of the roses were laying on the ground so we figured we should start the ones we could adjust going against the trellis. Should we cut off the ground ones?

We also planted Forth of July thirty inches from the trellis. She still looks like a small bush so no pinning for her yet. If she doesn't make it through the winter we will replant her closer to the wall. The climber we dug out in this location was right up next to the wall.

Lady in Red seems to be growing a little faster. They both came as bands from High Country Roses in April.

Forth of July today.

The roses as bands in April.

Stopped at our local rec. center on my way to High Country Roses to get the mile-hi rose feed. First time in 3 years we are fertilizing the roses. Hope we don't kill them. Took this picture as it was just too pretty not to.
