When your Decorating Ideas Get Copied by Friends
Comments (132)I have a lot of copycats in my family, they do everything we do, we purchased a new car like 4-5 years ago and a lot of people in my family went and purchased new cars, we have a projector/movie theater/family room and a 100in screen, they want to copy our movie theater idea, my neighbors as soon as they saw we purchased brand new stainless steel appliances, they went and purchased brand new appliances, they are lucky my husband and i love them and see them like family hahaha! Now this one is on another level, i really got mad over the following events: When i got engaged 6 years ago (I have been married for 5 years already) they all went and purchased similar rings to mine, and a girl that DH and i know COPIED my ring, YES, MY RING, SAME EXACT RING!!!! I was so upset!!!!...See MoreTh NY Times Birthday Book
Comments (8)I ordered one for my dad, who is 82 and agree it's a fantastic gift idea. Imhappy, they had quite a few discount promotion days for the book; I think I got 25% off the regular price and free shipping after reading about it here, so while it wasn't cheap it definitely was below $100. Oakley, not sure what you mean-why would 1963 be out of order? When you originally posted I thought maybe it was one of the dates that weren't available of the several that the NYT didn't print due to strikes over the years. Also why would dates before the recipient's birth be included? I didn't pore over my dad's book to check the back before I wrapped it but am puzzled about your comments....See MoreWall Haning for Friend's Birthday

Comments (36)LOL, Jack, I need to get my cows one of those! FOAS, I hope your wife and daughter had a very happy birthday too. Thank you, everyone, for the good wishes. Naturegirl, unfortunately I did not get the good weather you wished for. We had a frost. (sigh) The cabbage, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, etc. were just fine. Peppers and tomatoes were not so happy. Elery and I found every bucket, basket, hotkap, cardboard box we could lay our hands on and covered those plants. The zucchini were just starting to peek through, and I think I'll have to replant those, but everything else was just touched or escaped unscathed. So far... The cake was good. Wet, but good. Not custard-like, but soggy-cake-like. Not bad soggy, but soggy. I added a layer of dulce de leche because I had a can of that in the pantry, and it was a good addition, I think. I took pictures but have not loaded them on the computer because I've been busy saving the garden and entertaining Mother. I will, though, I promise! Sleevendog, I'm thinking I might like that rhubarb version better, I'm definitely going to try that, so thanks for the chicken AND the cake recipe! Elery built me two new planter boxes for herbs, I got a Tractor Supply gift card (Elery says you might be a redneck if most of your wardrobe comes from the farm stores, LOL), a new tarragon plant, a sprinkling can from The Princess, which she painted to say "Grandma's Grow Op - Water Supply" on one side and "Property of Ranchito Costa Lotta" on the other side. Of course, it was a plastic sprinkler and she used acrylic paints and when she tried to peel the stencil off all the paint peeled off and so the can is again green plastic, LOL. Ah well, it's the thought, you know. My brother called twice asking whether he had told me happy birthday yet and my Mother kept asking who was having a birthday, LOL. They're both confused, which is kind of interesting since they live in the same house... Ashley and the girls will come over later this week, after Mother goes home. And so, I can stretch the birthday celebration out maybe all week! Annie...See More- 4 years ago
