Comments (1)Welcome to the group Jenny. Where are you in Australia? I am in Michigan - lived in Armidale NSW for a year. Did you know there is also an Australian Garden Web? I just checked and it is at http://www.au.gardenweb.com/forums/ - lots of sites there. I hope you enjoy your time here and post often to tell us about your gardening experiences. Cheers from Michigan...See MoreHello, I'm new to this forum. Can you help me find:
Comments (1)For specific colors in Lenten Roses, I have ordered from Heronswoodnursery.com. Have also found some white ones at the big orange box(HD), but you have to buy them in bloom, as they aren't marked with specific colors. I also buy from a small mail-order nursery in Decatur, GA, ECO Gardens. He doesn't have an active web-site, but has printed list. e-mail him at eco-gardens@mindspring.com(Don Jacobs) and request specific info on what you want. This man has 25+ years experience in growing and hybridizing Helleborus and offers some unequaled beauties for sale(Not cheap, but un-available anywhere else). Typically, Lenten Roses(and most Helleborus) prefer a circumneutral to slightly alkaline soil, but I've had great success growing them under pine trees. I always mix a large hand-ful of dolomitic lime into the soil before planting and that seems to make them happy. Good Luck! Rb...See MoreI'm new to this forum
Comments (20)Hi Joseph, and welcome! I love the look of morning glories, and have something of a soft spot for them since I first learned to cross stitch using a pattern depicting a morning glory wreath. I haven't tried to grow them on purpose, though, since until now I've always just had a little garden club plot for veggies, and community gardens often frown on fast-growing invasive vines. (We did get some volunteer plants one year, and they were so lovely that I *almost* didn't mind how they choked out my sweet corn & tomatoes -- if only there had been anywhere good to trellis them!) Now that I'm about to move to a house in Maryland with an actual yard for the kitchen garden and a porch & foundation planting area for trellising pretties, maybe it'll be time to seek out & welcome the morning glories. I just hope they don't take out the roses that my soon-to-be housemates are bringing over from their current garden! Everybody's pictures are certainly inspiring! I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I had no idea there were so many varieties, having only seen wild-growing volunteer plants up 'til now....See MoreHello, I'm new to this forum...
Comments (6)Oh lucky you. I have a friend who has been a machine knitter for 30yrs. She does kids ear flap hats at the craft shows and has a big following of customers her hats are so nice and she has such wonderful program patterns for her machines. I don't know what brand machines she has but several good ones and she also does the intricate christmas stockings because she can program the patterns in. I can't knit at all but I can crochet so my broblem would be if you have to knit to piece stuff together it wouldn't work for me but I would love to do something like this one day. I need to get with my friend and find out what to look for in a knitting machine if I were to buy an electronic one as I want one you could program the patterns in. What model brother did you get? Please post back how you like it as this is something I have always been interested in. Mary...See Morebpath
