Online sources: shower door/frosted tempered glass panels?
Comments (1)Wilson Glass looks to be a good place. I haven't ordered mine yet, but I have gotten an estimate and it seems really reasonable. The glass will actually be made at a glass place somewhere in your general vicinity, though it might not be real close, and then you have your choice of getting it delivered - for a seemingly reasonable fee - or picking it up....See MoreOne panel or two panel shower door?
Comments (13)Janesylvia, I have a bathroom with a corner shower unit that (in a small space), and when installed, I opted for a door that swung both ways. This was done 5 years ago, and it turns out that the door leaks through the vertical gap, although not a ton. When I recently remodeled my master bath, I had the glass installer (a different company from the other bathroom), install a vertical strip on my corner shower unit, making the door open only out. This seal has stopped all leakage of water. In my limited eperience, it seems the vertical gasket or seal is much more likely to keep your shower from leaking. It was a little frustrating to always have a towel over the bathroom rug to absorb leaking water from the shower. (in addition to concerns over continual dampness on the floor)...See Moreglass shower door hits fixed glass panel (won't close)
Comments (11)Follow up (I'm OP): GC contacted the lead guy (owner?) of glass co., and within days they were at my house to discuss. They said the door's vertical sweep (which closes to the fixed glass 1/2 panel - see pic) could be replaced with a thinner one. And some glass cos. don't even put a sweep there. They said to totally disregard everything the receptionist said - she had no business diagnosing the problem. The thinner sweep would only be the top half of the door. But we're thinking your eye won't notice that the bottom half has a thicker sweep because there's a 1/2 wall, tiled, there. Get this: The day they showed up the door worked again (pivoted both in and out of the shower)! It was colder - wildly guessing the walls are expanding in heat, or maybe its just a stiff sweep problem (they didn't opine as to cause). Glass co. owner gave me his text and direct dial/vm, and said he'll install a thinner sweep whenever - i.e., if I want, I can wait until its hot again. The only thing I find annoying is that, well, I paid about $3,900 with tax for the glass (HCOL area), and seems I should have a door that fits with the usual sweep. And I'm concerned that if we go with the thinner sweep, maybe the walls will contract when it cold again. But I guess I would rather be done with this and, if it does leak in the winter, deal with that problem then. My 1 year warranty is up Dec. 2017....See MoreNeoangle shower with shower curtain instead of glass doors?
Comments (0)We are going to have our shower retiled and I absolutely hate glass doors! The upkeep, the etching of the glass (no matter what manufacturers promise), and the fact we aren't going to take time after ever shower to squeegee three glass panels. We have a country style bathroom with a claw foot tub and I'd like to use shower curtain for a more casual look and less time taking care of glass doors. If anyone has what I'm talking about, would you mind weighing in? And photos would be welcome too! Many thanks in advance....See More- 4 years ago
