Living Room/Dining Room Combo - design help!
Comments (1)Cute place, i see the challenge, but I am really against a sectional in this space let alone for guest to have to sit next to each other it creates a weird dynamic. I hope you are not planning to put the tv over the fireplace that would also be a neck breaker. I see the couch on the side the two red chairs. the tv on the wall with the lockers and 2 chairs to the dining room side....See MoreLiving Room/Dining Room/Fireplace design/utilization
Comments (1)Hello Lauren, Marcie here. Yes, this is a challenge. Can you do me a favor and take some more pictures? Please start with your back to the wall that the TV is against and then move around to fireplace to capture your dining room. Please give me the measurements of that space including the area with the shelves on the wall and your dining room. Marcie...See MorePlease help me with design of living room / dining room
Comments (3)Will you be keeping dining table and couches for a while, as you mentioned you will be replacing? That will dictate suggestions for lighting, etc and even ideas for a better possible layout. https://blog.modsy.com/home-design-tips-guides/layout-guides/living-and-dining-room-layout-designs/ If replacing shortly, if you could provide more details in regards to your taste, needs, and style. Either way, could you provide better pictures of the whole space and what your plans are with the furniture. Repainting, if you go that route, should be the last decision....See Moreliving room and dining room (modern coastal/boho) design needed
Comments (4)There are a few tricks to use to bring make more light (appear) in the room. Lighting is crucial, so don't treat it as an afterthought. Before you do or get anything, have a plan. Measure twice, buy once. In the living room, put the ceiling light on a dimmer. A ceiling light in the living room does not make for an intimate living room experience. I prefer no ceiling light there, and instead - a tale lamp or wall sconce at chest height. I love a well lit room, so I go a bit nuts with the lighting! Other things you can do: put a mirror on the wall - only if there is a nice reflection. Put glass or mirror table tops - only if that goes along with your decor. Other places you can put mirrors are on lamp bases. Don't overdo it, but you are on the right track with bright colors. I have a dark living room also, and I have a lot of color in my oversized wall art (go big or go home!) I can't tell from the pictures, but some of them look like the walls are a cool color and some look warm. Be very careful if you plan on repainting the walls. It makes a lot of difference. I really like Nick Lewis on youtube on that topic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KDnuPfuro0&t=61s Please no gray couch. How about a medium brown? Gray is a cool color and has been overdone in the past five years....See Morecpartist
