Jamies - oh yes, we did get a new toilet! The Toto Ultramax. Which my DH has managed to clog once (shh, he'll kill me if he knows I'm posting that in public!!). But only the one time...so far...And unfortunately, the Toto's don't respond well to basic plungers b/c of their shape or something. I've found recs for ball shaped plungers that apparently work better so I need to get one of those! Oh, and for anyone interested, my paint color is Behr Roasted Garlic and it is a great shade of green/beige. It's constantly changing color based on the lighting and I like all the various shades!

They both look nice, but personally I like the vanity with the vessel sink. It looks less cluttered. I am biased though, since I find pedestal sinks annoying. I'm always knocking things off of them, because I'm super clumsy! :) I like having the space to put my hair/make-up items right next to the sink, especially if the mirror over the sink is the only one in the room. If you just do the dresser and vessel sink, will you have more open space? Will you put something else where the pedestal would have been?

Thank you, fnmroberts. Lovely bathroom! I love the white vanity, though I don't plan to paint or replace mine in the near future. I don't have the bathroom dimensions handy (I'm away from home at the moment) but both are very similar in size to your own, though the vanity size in the guest bath is 37" and the vanity in the master bath is 43". I'm hoping to get both bathrooms done for about $2,000 if possible. I've been looking at the granite vanity tops with built-in undermount sinks at Home Depot and Lowes for the $200 to $350 range. I'd need to add tile for the flooring (though it shouldn't take a lot, since the bathrooms are smallish), faucets, pulls and paint. I have no idea how much to estimate labor costs but my assumption is that's always the most expensive part so I'm going to see if any friends have tiling experience or have put in a new bath vanity so I could do more of it DIY with a little free help. Mostly what I'm looking for now are some inspiration photos of bathrooms that have similar natural/honey builder grade vanity cabinets just to see what style of counters and fixtures were added, what type of mirror and flooring, etc. Thanks again for any photos people can provide.

Yes, I wish I had a little alcove space in my half-bath like Bob's to cradle a sink like that. I also wish the arrangement of my room was like all the powder rooms pictured above, walking in FACING the fixtures. Instead, you walk in facing a window, and the sink is to the immediate right, and the toilet is on the same wall to the left of the sink. You lose a lot of the beauty of the fixtures that way. I love looking straight into the room to see the sink right there. As we've seen from all the pics posted here, a sink and faucet are not merely utilitarian fixtures. They can serve as striking sculpture! (Ditto the toilet actually! There are some beautiful ones out there now!). I'll try to make the best of the configuration I have. (If someone will get their caboose over here to help me with my project!)
