Birds Nest Fern - Is the Crown Dead?

I have two birds nest ferns hung in planters on a the north wall in our apartment with an east facing window. They're hung directly beside each other and are planted in Miracle-Grow Indoor Potting Mix (with coconut coir) and kept in 60% humidity, and placed in front of a humidifier a for a few hours, 2 - 3 x a week. I mist the fronds several times a week. For the last month or so I've been watering them from the bottom ~1x week (previously was watering from the top, but avoiding the crown) One of them seems to be doing well and growing and the other...not so much. I think the crown is either rotting or dead. This is my first experience with birds nest ferns so I'm hoping someone more experienced than me can provide some insight as to what's going on, why only one plant looks like this and if / how I can save it.

The first two pictures are of the unhealthy plant and the last picture is of the healthy plant.

Thank you!
