How do you know if your vision will work before you start? pics
Comments (43)I am confused by chijim's comments because all of the pictures that are on the walls now are black and whites and are framed in black. I think that does tie them together. I am not focused on anything on any flat surface at the moment. That is a bunch of stuff from different rooms, or is cat food to be honest, because that is where the sick cats eat. At my DR table. I never actually eat there. :) I have just been working on the wall color, drapes, and wall picture layout. At least that is what my focus was meant to be with this thread, and trying to see if the rug I have will work with it all. I feel like it is coming together in my head. We shall see what the end result is. ;) No worries Punamytsike. I don't mind the comments. It helps to hear other opinions. I can't wait to see what you do with your new spaces which will be so different from your last house. I know it will be fabulous. I think it is interesting that Chijim mentions crown molding. I have to say I was really against it, but DH voted for it, and my parents brought it up yesterday too, so I guess that is a battle I am going to lose. I just think it will bother me to have painted molding when all the other trim in the house is stained. Of course my dad said I should just paint all the trim, but the stained trim has grown on me and I don't really want to do that. If I had my way I would probably do some kind of stained funky trim, but I am sure that would not get many votes either. I think I have convinced DH to do this room next, and he just finished tiling my bathroom, so hopefully we shall see some progress soon. I will keep posting updates in case anyone is interested. It helps me to type out my thoughts too. I know orange/blue is not everyone's cup of tea, and I guess I have a quirky style....See MoreHow do I make kitchen soffits fit into my elegant vision of kitch
Comments (16)I love the ideas mentioned about soffits. You can turn the soffit into a faux molding of doors. I adore Celineike's beautiful kitchen, what a creative way to deal with soffits. Here are a few more examples. Soffit into a stacked cab or even adding molding to the soffit in the pic with the yellow. All fun ideas to make the space even more beautiful. I would put some elegant drapes on the windows something like this...Not a Duncan P table but lovely nevertheless. Oriental rugs over your tile floors and rich woven drapes will make the coolness of the room flow with the duncan pyfe table you are invisioning. What about a built in fish tank? Fish tanks can take on a mood or feel of their own but built in ones remind us that they are part of the art and passion of the owner not an entitiy of their own. The built in fish tank becomes elegant art. Back to the kitchen... Here is a combo of gray and white with a gentle soffit above. That sort of blends into the wall. I thought of this when you mentioned gray. Painting soffitts above to match walls and cabs unify the space....See MoreGot our first draft of our kitchen design, what do you all think?
Comments (31)Completely understand all of that, having the dishwasher behind us would work in the same way as it would be very close when the door is open but the only other option is to put the dishwasher next to the sink and then have to move the range to the only other wall that you could use for it which is the back wall next to the fridge. I guess we could move it to the right of the sink but it would be just as far away or more than in the island What nobody is asking or knows is our preferences like I don't want my back to everybody in the kitchen while I'm cooking, so having the range in the middle of the kitchen makes it easier for me to see what's going on in the living area to my left, talk to my wife or kids when they are prepping things in the sink and talk to the people at the island easier. Does any of that make sense as to why the layout is that way?...See Morewe have an issue with our new kitchen
Comments (78)i have an interesting thought. my layout is 42 then 24 corner then 42 again, if i ask the kitchen store to make my corner a 27. i take off 3 inches from 42 plus put a 3 inch filler on either side of the corner. I would get my open cabinet, and just "lose 6 inches for fillers" all togther, but i would have the accessibiltiy i want, is this cutting off my nose ot spite my face or can this actually work? and how would this look next to 21 doors?...See Moremuellerkm
