I need help with Pavers/Falgstone against a sloped sidewalk

Hello all - I'm looking for some guidance on how to put a hard-scaped patio up against an existing concrete sidewalk. The issue is the yard naturally slopes much more than what I need for proper drainage, and when leveled out there is a 6" differential between the top and bottom (more than I think I need for drainage).

The area under the pergola where I'm looking to lay down a stone surface. My current desire is large pavers or flagstone separated & filled by pea gravel.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to tackle this? Do I deal with the lip and cover it up with a lounge or couch? Is there some type of gradual slope I could do on the edge of patio and walkway?

Thanks!
