Would be helpful if you tell which browser do you use. Usually, you would change which search provider is used in the browser settings.

Unless what you're seeing is something other than "Default search engine", I would expect the instructions Elmer provided to work.

Besides (attempting?) to change the browser setting, what else have you tried?

Can you take a screenshot in case what you're seeing is something different? (Such as a toolbar powered by Bing?)

BTW, IF it's a Bing Toolbar, you may be able to uninstall "Bing Bar" in "Programs and Features". (renamed "Apps and Features" in 10?)

Do you have the most recent version of Firefox, do you keep it updated?

Yes, Firefox is up to date. I deleted the ms update, it may have come with that. But, it just updated it! Maybe I just have to live with it!

On Firefox, go to Tools - Options. On the left side of the page you will see a list one of which is - 'Search.'

Click on that. Default Search Engine - Click on what you want for search.

I use Google and that's what I have in the window.

I changed the home page, and I think that did it. Thanks to all for your help.

Then what you were looking originally was the home page and the setting for same and not the setting for the search engine as your question originally said.
