IE keeps shutting down

Not sure what's going on or whether it's this new IE Bing, but my IE shuts down on it's own several times a day. Not good. Last night I was on a forum and it shut down 4 times in less than 45 minutes.

I'm not fond of Firefox, and someone just told me about Google's Chrome which I just downloaded so not sure how that will go.

Anyone else experiencing this rather newer problem with IE continuously shutting down then re-opening again?

I found this elsewhere on the net...
Click TOOLS from IE

INTERNET OPTIONS

ADVANCED

Click RESTORE ADVACED SETTINGS

Click RESET on "Reset Internet Explorer Settings"

OK

APPLY then OK

Restart the IE again it should be over.

I also read where turning off Skype add-ons solved the problem for some.

Are you using Vista? and IE 7 maybe?

I'll try it. Yes, I'm using Vista and IE7 Bing (Bing just appeared one day).

did this just recently start happening? did it work fine say a week ago? If you answer yes then probably the easiest thing for you to do is simply go back in time to a date that it was working fine for you. This is very easy and simple to do. Click start>all programs>accessories>system tools> system restore. Open system restore and choose to go back to a previous date, it will open a calendar that has some dates and times showing when you have restore points saved, select one of those dates and restore points when your IE was working fine and tell it to restore the pc to that restore point, it will tell you to reboot do that and it will then set your pc back to the settings from that time. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084 there is some instructions you can copy and paste that into your browser. The other option is download and use firefox browser.

I have newly installed Gaggs and was wondering about the length of time it should take for the oven to cool down. I don't hear any fans running and there are none to see so how do you know they are going? I thought it was taking a long time for the oven to cool down but that could also be because they are so well insulated. The Gagganeau has an info button that will tell you the interior temp of the oven and I have never had this before so maybe I am just taking note of the cool down period where before I never thought about it.. Good to know the door should be left closed because sometimes I do open the door to cool it down quicker .

Hey guys. I was having the same problem last week. My Trane heatpump condenser fan motor failed. I went out and got a Dayton motor from WW Granger. It was a 4 wire motor and my orig. GE motor was three wire. so I installed it by taping off the brown wire with white stripe and hooking up the other three. (This is a commonly used method of using a four wire in a thee wire pump.) Also replaced the split capacitor with a new one. After the fan ran for 15~20 minutes it would overheat and shut down. Like you I ran the water hose over the unit to let it drip and it would run forever... I checked all the voltages, etc. and voltage drop accross the contactor and everything was fine. The fan started fine but still overheated. FINALLY, I installed a seperate fan capacitor, 5 ufarrid @ 370v, on the advice of a tech support guy at Granger. VIOLLA! Dont ask me why but now the fan runs at about 35 deg.C in the air stream and stays there. If anyone has a theory about why this worked please let me know. If you want a wiring diagram on how this worked email me @kidshows@gmail.com and Ill scan it into a pdf for you. You have to make a jumper wire. (I used the wire off my old GE motor and just added another spade connector to match the capacitor). Hope this helps you out. bing is the new name for Microsoft search so if you previously had MS search you now have bing, if it was added after some update it may have added a tool bar you can go to your add remove programs area and if you see bing listed there you should be able to select to remove it.

It didn't work. After doing the steps above, it crapped out 20 mins. later. Oh well.

Raven....I don't see Bing on my add/remove list, but I know that's what IE I have.

Apart from Sue's suggestion of running Malwarebytes - or similar - have you considered heat?

Does this only happen while you use IE or at other times when you are using other programs as well? How long since you were inside the case blowing out the dust bunnies?

You write then reopening, are you saying the program just restarts of it's own accord?

Yes...IE completely shuts down on it's own, then immediately reopens again back to the starting point of MSN.com which is my default page.

I can try running Malware. I don't think heat is the problem as it's only IE that shuts itself down, then reopens...not other programs I have have open such as Windows Mail.

Well that is indeed a strange situation. Perhaps using the link below from MS to do a repair would cure the issue for you.
