I've had galvanized stock tanks as ponds for years and haven't had to have a wooden foundation or any kind of foundation. I just sit it on the ground. If it's not level, I spread some sand or dirt (dug up from another part of the yard) under it until it is. One time it settled a bit after I had to put a good bit of dirt under it, so I just drained it and put a bit more where needed to level it back up. No biggie. Didn't take long. Those stock tanks last for years. Since they're designed and manufactured for ranch use, they have to stand up to a long time of weathering and wear. If they didn't, ranchers wouldn't keep buying them. That's why you don't see many ranchers using those rubbermaid tanks ~ they don't hold up nearly as well. I also like the fact that once I scrub a new one out with vinegar and then dish soap to remove any leftover oils or chemicals from the galvanizing process, I don't have to worry about anything off-gassing into the water like I do with plastic or rubber. I've never tried koi in there as I've always read that it wasn't big enough. Even in the eight foot round one, though I have been tempted in that one since it's almost the thousand gallon recommended minimum size for swimming. What's stopped me is I know if I get koi, once they grow large, I'll either feel guilty every time I look at them in the stock tank or will have to come up with a bigger pond for them to live in. (Hey! Maybe that's a way for me to justify getting the 10' wide stock tank. ;) I've never had a filter on any of them either and haven't had pea soup problems, but I usually go heavy on the plants and light on the fish. I have these in the pastures and pens for my livestock as well and keep a goldfish or two in them to keep the mosquitoes out. Let me tell you, those goldfish grow HUGE from all the food ~ not only the mosquitoes, but little pieces of grain and alfalfa pellets from the horses' muzzles when they drink. Raccoon treats they are for sure, but the only problem I've had with critters getting in them are squirrels. They try to get a drink from them, then fall in and drown. So the ones I have for my livestock I just float a board in so they can get out. I haven't had that problem at all in the ones I use for ponds near the house. Probably because of all the plants and pots making it easy for them to get out (that or the little heeler dog who thinks it's her job to keep the squirrels in the trees ;). I think your boyfriend's son is overthinking this. IMHO you should get a tank, bring it home, plunk it down where you want it and set it up. Just do it. It'll be fine.

If you came in contact with a fig tree (cutting it with chainsaw,gather leafs,fruits) and have a rash act quick cause the rash will stay about 3-10 days depending on the exposure. You have to understand while spring and summer time the fig tree creates that white latex (that have 2 bad compoments of acid) and "burns" the skin but not like sun, so if you hadnt make contact,take procotions gloves, long sleves and dont stay in the sun for long periods, if you failed and have a rash 1) was the area that make conntact with fig tree fast and good 2) see a doctor (propably you will get antibiotic, antistamins,epinefrine of some kind) 3)this isn't sun burn dont put same lotions although manny can help such us aloe vera 4) keep the infected area clean 5)Thats Mine opinion, good diet! Antiiflamatory such us Coffe, Green tea honey+can be antibacterial too, Drink a lot of water and healthy us fruits ,carrots ,coconut fish of course that things will may help on low level or medium. I didn't have peppers to cover since they had been inside for 24 hours hiding from the wind, so all I had to do to them was switch off the light. I need to spend a half day potting them up because I will probably not put them in the ground for a couple more weeks and they have outgrown their location. They have been outside most days and inside at night except during the high winds. My son and DIL came today and took seeds, and pepper and tomato plants home with them to plant a small garden. This is her first garden so she is starting small. I have five Bush Goliath plants in the south side of my garden and they look great, but some of the others don't look so good yet. They have been too wet almost since they went into the garden. They are growing but I always watch for that burst of greener color that starts in the center of the tomoto at the top and they spreads to the other foliage and I'm not seeing that yet. They didn't get established very well before the rains and winds started. They don't look sick, just not like I want them to look. I have walking onions, bulbing onions, and green onions. I have a rosemary plant, 3 rhubard plants, 3 horseradish plants, Jeruselam artichokes, lettuce, spinach, chard and misc salad greens, and radishes that all look good. I have a new asparagus bed that is ferning up and a so-so strawberry bed that a neighborhood cat disturbed in its early days. My blueberries came back OK this year, but I'm not to sure about some of the other new berries yet. I planted some bean seeds a little early and they will likely rot because the ground is going to stay too wet. I think I have planted 27 tomato plants but I have to wait until I make sure I have room for the peppers before I take up much more space. I will plant more beans, squash, and cucumbers and squeeze in a few herbs, then everything else has to wait until the spring things have been harvested, because I will be out of room. Oh, and Dawn....This is just for you. I actually have some carrots coming up. Maybe 3 or 4, and I planted 60 probably. I still CANNOT grow carrots. I am surprised that any came up. Everyone tells me they are easy, but for me they are impossible. LOL I have a few problems but overall I think things are looking pretty good. They are a bit too wet, but that too will pass. It seems to be benefitting everything except the new tomato plants. Oh yes, I have a tub of potatoes. I never did get the Yukons planted that I bought to plant, but I did plant the few potatoes that I had left from last years crop and they look really good Its just one big tree pot with potatoes so it won't be a big harvest, but they do look healthy at this point. As you can see from the above forecast, I will not be spending much time in the garden. LOL It is like this every spring and I have to plant when I can plant. If I get a few dry days, I put in seeds and hope I am not too early. I probably goofed with the beans...but if I did..I still have a bag full I can plant. Susan, I have used up all of my trellis space so I am glad you sent me those Spacemaster cukes. That will probably be the only early ones I can squeeze in until the pea vines come down. Sagenscotties, I really am grateful for the rain, but I hate seeing floodwater in a neighbor's home, only 1 year after they had to redo everything after last year's flood. (Of course, I would not have built a house in a flood plain like they did.) Our weather here seems to consist of one long drought interrupted by the occasional flash flood. I've never seen anything like Oklahoma weather, and I grew up in Texas where the weather is not much different, but maybe a little bit more moderate, instead of swinging from one extreme to the other. I do wish the rain would come along more evenly spaced out, instead of almost no rain for 2 months, and then 4" in one week, but I am glad to see the rain falling. What I guess I truly miss is the sunshine. I could handle having rain every day if only the sun would come out now and then. :) Dawna, Many of the pastures here were overgrazed the last 2 years (out of desperation, I am sure) and they are slow to grow and recover this year too. I, too, have been wondering how the wolves handled the move to the new place. Randy, I know Amber is disappointed, but that kind of disappointment is just a part of competing, isn't it? It is good that she has set high goals and expects the best of herself. Her gym must be so proud of how well the girls have done these last few years. I know all the girls' parents must be proud too.
