I think if you put 5 or 6 lights in a chandlier - it would give alot of light. Maybe not as much a a porch light would - but I think it would be perfect . I have about 6 solar lights spaced around my deck - and at night - it lights up the whole deck.

you can consider using 12V LED lightbulbs or 12V florescent light bulbs. 12V LED light bulb would not be as bright as 12V florescent bulbs, but take much less power. you can power it with a 12v battery and have some panels charge the battery. im also thinking of doing that.

yes, after extensice research I found that switching to LED was best choice with or without added expense of solar. also, no need to replace fixtures, this website that I found has almost every application of LED direct replacement available and the most resonable cost. link to website is here www.mygreenpros.com I replaced all my yard lights with combination of SMD chips, MR11, MR16 and some Disc. leds and so far I am on month 22 with no problems. very reliable LED's and good customer servivce too. Came to this site hoping someone found decent quality solar garden lights. My experience has been that they are junk and a waste of money with fails right out of the box, more fails within a month and all fail not much after that. I guess low wattage hardwired is only way to have reliable lighting. You'd think by now, solar would be more reliable and better quality but I guess, people keep buying and replacing them so why would mfr improve the quality. Very frustrating.
