Plumerias: I'm done watering mine until spring. You?
Comments (11)Fun pics and updates, thanks for sharing them! Good to hear most of us have the same general approach of withdrawing water at this time of year. I really think it helps. Pagan, feel free to use the pic of 'Kimo'. I've seen decent sized specimens at Lowes and Home Depot all summer, so they may still have some left before all of the Christmas Stuff moves in. Let us know if/when/where you find some. euqruob, it really WAS a banner year for plumies, wasn't it? All of mine grew and bloomed a ton. My very favorite is still 'Celandine' for those huge, extremely fragrant, sun resistant blooms. It could possibly be my favorite floral scent of ANY variety of ANY flower. Yes, I love it that much. Anyway, definitely a banner year for them. PhxLynne your Singapore Pink is really nice! Keep us posted on how it does for you. I have 'Divine' which is a true dwarf too and it has done really well, with lots of low branches. Great fun. I love yours and its bed and patio--lookin' good! Will you still water those petunias underneath in winter? wrcaz, I'm sure others have ideas and notions too, but here's my general approach. I use regular potting soil soil for pots (either "Miracle-Gro potting soil" (without any water-retaining crystals) or Pro-mix). I put an inch of pumice or perlite in the bottom of the pot to ensure good drainage. In the ground, I add enough compost to have about a 50% compost/50% native soil mix and I plant away. All of mine in the ground and in pots very very much benefit from afternoon shade in summer; otherwise their leaves scorch in summer. Planting them on the east side of a building or wall or shade-giving plant or structure really helps. Mine get watered three times a week late spring through last week. They'll get no water now until they re-leaf in late spring, and when they DO leaf out, I'll only water them once a week or ten days until it is HOT. I slop water-dissolved tomato fertilizer on them every two weeks and water dissolved bloom boost fertilizer on them once or twice a month. Spring is definitely the best time of year to buy/plant them, but if you can find one now and keep it try for winter it could be worth a try. Keep us posted! Comments (80)I'm 2/3 set....well, sort of. I'm still working on the hand made item, but I found the cookbook yesterday. Like many of you, I had to get 2 of them, one for myself and one for my partner. I'm still puzzling over the local item. I've found a nice locally produce item, but I'm not sure about shipping it. I'm going to do some more research. I've thought of other things, but Texas is a big state, and I'm not sure if the other side of Texas counts as local. Unfortunately, where I live the primary locally produced products are McMansions. I know I can spend as much as I want, but I'm NOT spending THAT much! LOL. Besides, that would definately be hard to ship! Sally...See MoreWANTED: I'm so excited my parcel arrived and its a compressor!
Comments (22)Everything is gorgeous and so special! I love supporting local artists, and I espeically love the carving board. I would definitely use it because it seems to practical, and it was meant to be functional art. The same with the napkins, although I would reserve those for specially occasions. I'm a bit confused about the scale of the items because you said the napkins were oversized. How large is the cream pitcher? For some reason, it looks a bit like a water pitcher to me. I love the colors! Lars...See MoreTrying to mix marbles and I think I'm losing mine
Comments (61)I think the pencil liner could be just the thing to cover your gap and allow you to do something else later if you choose to. Just a little piece of trim, and you can buy a few a see how that looks to you. I just had my outlets moved up to avoid a listello, and while I am glad I didn't cut the lines of the listello having the outlets a little lower was nicer for access and fewer cords draping around (on the coffee pot and grinder, which stay plugged in for the most part). There may be a limit to how far they can be dropped due to framing issues, but it may not be a big issue to lower them if you choose to do that. I love how Rhome picked out that issue with tiling that wall: Snuggling the outlets into the tile will solve a big part of the visual issues any tile on that wall that is lower than the outlet will have.. Your sunflower tile is amazing, and has some interesting properties to my eye: I think the tiny tiles mosaic looks great with it when the triangle is up on the sunflower, and I don't like the mix of the two mosaics with the triangles to the side/square tile on top. I just keep looking at it because it is sort of fascinating to me. I think it is unlikely that you will tire of the Ming green hint of color, but if you have any question about that I would stick with the Thassos/whiter marble. I am guessing that the bit of color softens the look in your kitchen and is so perfect with the color of your walls right now that people find the combo very soothing. But I do think you would be happy with either. And it may be that the orientation of the sample has influenced which "color" people like. Just my two cents. I think you will love either for a long time. And nothing will happen with your drywall in the short term, so if you need some time to live with it just on the stove wall I would take that time and not fret....See Moreshwshw
