Thank you all for your suggestions and pictures. billl - good point about the dust collecting strips - I agree either against the wall or room for cleaning between. enduring - thanks for the link, although I think my architects violated most of the suggestions - they seem to be more form over function - but it's only the powder room - our bathrooms were designed and built in 1939 - so of course they violate most of the suggestions too. Good luck with your reno pricklypearcactus - I'm meeting with the GC and finish carpenter to discuss a built-in. I was thinking if it had 3 drawers and feet instead of the standard cabinet doors, it would look more like furniture even if it is built in. In the case that I go with RH - how do you like the quality? kfhl - thank you so much for pointing out the baseboard issue. I completely forgot that. mydreamhome - it's a renovation, but we're bumping into what was our original attached garage. Unfortunately the plumbing is already installed. But, give that the door hinge is on the opposite side of your hinge, I think you'll never see in the room from the entry - only from the mud room. nini - lovely vanity and I absolutely love the black granite w/white bowl look - but it would end up being the fanciest piece of furniture in our entire house :) Does the black granite show a lot of waterspots?

If you decide to have the underside of a wall-hung sink visually exposed and want it looking neat, check out Duravit.com. Duravit sells matching pedestals that do get in the way, but also ”siphon covers” that hang on the wall and hide the plumbing behind a porcelain cover that only goes halfway to the floor. They also sell countersinks, in which there is a sink in the middle or one side or the other of a large porcelain countertop, all one piece. A larger, deeper one of these can give the litterbox more cover. You can also get a cheap vanity and cut a cat door in the side of it and use a tray with higher sides to try and capture litter that escapes the box. With two doors on a frameless front, you should be able to pull out the tray to brush it off and wash it. You could also look into furniture pieces that are made to hide the litter box and could look nicer. An activated charcoal filter hung in there and changed regularly could make a cabinet cat box smell better without adding perfume that the cats probably would not like. That works pretty darn well in the Toto deodorizing toilet seats.

I like Artemis78 suggestion of a 30” vanity with 2” fillers on the sides. You can never have too much storage! I purchased Bertch USA vanities for my bathrooms, great quality with soft closing drawers. Check out their website. For the vanity tops I purchased remnant quartz pieces from a local stone yard. Ok, here's an update. We have extra wallpaper laying around and our paper installer said it's no problem to do a touch up after we install a new sink. We ordered a console style sink with black legs. Plan to purchase a new toilet, brushed gold 1 lever faucet and coordinating decorative plumbing (p trap and water supply lines), and new simple mirror with brushed gold frame. Next on agenda is the tile. Jan suggested black marble.  I have found 2 options. Is it too much black? Please let me know what you think. Thanks!
