Help with vanity ideas for a narrow powder room

Hi, I'm looking for a vanity for a narrow powder room that's 34" wide, but finding a good looking 34" vanity that would sit perfectly between the two walls has been impossible. If I were to go with a smaller vanity which means there will be gaps between the vanity and the walls, what would be a good size? How small/big of a gap between the vanity and walls should I avoid?

If you don't need storage, why not consider a pedestal sink? There are some really nice ones.

Can you do a 30” vanity with 2” fillers on either side and then a custom counter? Might be worth the added cost for that space. If you don’t need storage, a pedestal sink might be a good option too for much less money.

Thanks artemis. I don't really need storage, and I'm just wondering what size is good if I go with a smaller sink/vanity.

We need something behind the wall mounted faucets. So it will be a block of accent tile. Looking at my samples - the right does seem to have some green. The left is a milky white with a few grey specks. DH likes the left but I think the pattern will be too busy with the counter.

"And what is the huge commitment? If you tire of wallpaper - even if it is the "real" kind, just change it. It is a small space and not a huge financial commitment." Helen, maybe I'm terribly unlucky but I still have leftover glue from the PO's wallpaper border in one of my bathrooms. (If only the vanity had that kind of durability :P). Also, don't know about Victoria's option but the wallpaper murals that tempt me end up running close to 1K for a small room. Must admit when I break down the wallpaper option, it daunts me quickly. Not trying to rain on anyone's parade as I love the look of many wallpapered powder rooms. @Victoria Holloway, forgot another alternative to wallpaper: paint stencil (depending on DIY-ability, etc.). Just sharing in case you want options. I wish you luck in your decision. Keep pattern scale in mind for best effect and if you go ahead with it, please share your "after" pics!

IMO you are ahead of yourself . First the floor then if you eed wallpaper it needs to work with the floor and same for metal choice these all need to work together before doing anythting . Grays ae difficult to mix so that is the first item to deal with . The cabinet is set so now you need to see what flooring works with that gray . Do you have the cabinet? For me I would think cement tile for the floor , no wallpaper just a nice color from the cement tile for the walls this is just one of 100s of cement tiles you can choose from I like this since then go chrome for the faucet and that dark blue for a wall or if you have great lighting all the walls dark blue. Powder rooms are where you can have some fun they really can be like a little world all by themselves

Ok, here's an update. We have extra wallpaper laying around and our paper installer said it's no problem to do a touch up after we install a new sink. We ordered a console style sink with black legs. Plan to purchase a new toilet, brushed gold 1 lever faucet and coordinating decorative plumbing (p trap and water supply lines), and new simple mirror with brushed gold frame. Next on agenda is the tile. Jan suggested black marble. I have found 2 options. Is it too much black? Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

I think the conventional wisdom is at least 6” on each side to be able to clean, but here that wouldn’t leave much space to work with. In a powder room I’d personally prefer a 30-32” pedestal sink to a 24” vanity, but either would probably work fine.

Buy a 24 inch vanity , or do custom to the space. An idea of style, and someone can find one : ) The gap on 24 will look more intentional ......and is fine, Feels more like furniture placed in a niche. I'd go for a color : ) and a great wallpaper to set it off. - the bottom green in a heartbeat .below

I like Artemis78 suggestion of a 30” vanity with 2” fillers on the sides. You can never have too much storage! I purchased Bertch USA vanities for my bathrooms, great quality with soft closing drawers. Check out their website. For the vanity tops I purchased remnant quartz pieces from a local stone yard. Best of luck in your renovation journey!

Thanks for the suggestions! How about floating vanity? If I get a 24" floating vanity, would it look good with 5" gaps on both sides?
